19-Year Old C’Ville Woman Killed on

A press release from McHenry County Coroner Anne Majewski:

McHenry County Coroner, Dr. Anne Majewski, announced this afternoon that her office is investigating the death of the driver involved in a single car crash in the 13,400 block of Marengo Road, Huntley, Illinois, yesterday, Sunday, July 29, 2018.

Huntley Fire and Rescue responded to the scene at 7:09 pm.

The driver, identified to be Lilith R. Okopski, age 19, of Carpentersville, Illinois, was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:38 pm.

The crash remains under investigation by the Huntley Police Department, the McHenry County Accident Investigation Team and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.

An autopsy is scheduled for this week.

Monday, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department issued the following press release on the accident:

Sheriff’s Office Investigates Fatal Crash

A 19-year-old Carpentersville resident was pronounced dead Sunday, following a single-vehicle
crash within the 13400 block of Marengo Road, in unincorporated Grafton Township.

On Sunday at 7:11 p.m., the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Huntley Fire Protection
District responded to a crash involving a 1997 Acura CL.

A preliminary investigation indicated that the Acura, driven by the 19-year-old, was traveling
southeast-bound Marengo Road when it left the roadway for unknown reasons.

The vehicle traveled through a cornfield, then into a tree line where it collided with a tree.

The crash was not immediately reported because the vehicle was concealed within the tree line.

The initial investigation suggests the crash occurred during the morning hours of Sunday, July 29th
.
The driver was the sole occupant of the Acura and was wearing a seatbelt.

The front airbags deployed within the vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Investigation
Unit and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office
