11-Year Old Changes Florida Vote Totals in Ten Minutes

Here’s what Reuters has to say about the ease of hacking election results:

Boy, 11, hacks into replica U.S. vote website in minutes at convention

(Reuters) – An 11-year-old boy managed to hack into a replica of Florida’s election results website in 10 minutes and change names and tallies during a hackers convention, organizers said, stoking concerns about security ahead of nationwide votes.

Thirty-five children, ages 6 to 17, did the same thing at the Def Con Security Convention last weekend.

Let me tell you about the vote counting in my 1996 election for State Representative.

State Rep. Al Salvi was running against Congressman Dick Durbin for the U.S. Senate.

We were running a joint sign campaign in my district.  (See article here.)

The bumper sticker on the bottom of the sign was not attached until local ordinances allowed.  A Federal court suit allowed issues signs at any time of the year.

That was the year that McHenry County Republican Party Chairman and County Auditor Al Jourdan decided to put up a candidate against me.

All votes were being counted at the courthouse.

When about 55% of the votes had been counted in McHenry County, both of us had about 58% of the vote.

The tabulating machines went down.

Prior to the end of counting the machines went down again.

The final count in McHenry County showed Brehmer leading slightly in McHenry County.

He got 50.75% of the votes recorded for State Rep.

  • John Brehmer – 6,391
  • Cal Skinner, Jr. – 6,202

15.6% of those pulling ballots did not vote in the State Rep. contest.

The results in Cook County’s Barrington Township, where punch cards were counted in each precinct, showed Brehmer being trounced, receiving only 21.1% of the votes.

  • John Brehmer – 524
  • Cal Skinner, Jr. – 1,276

Here are the twelve Barrington Township Primary Election precinct results:

When the Daily Herald reporter called to ask me about the close results, I told him, “They forgot about Barrington Township.”

It gets better.

Dave Frederick added up the total votes for Republican Precinct Committeeman and discovered that more votes were cast for that minor office than in the contest to State Representative where well over $100,000 was spent:

  • Skinner expenditures – $98,787
  • Brehmer expenditures – $79,715

  1. In October, 2016, President Obama stated:

“There is no serious person out there who would suggest somehow that you could even rig America’s elections, in part because they are so decentralized and the number of votes that are cast. There is no evidence that has happened in the past, or instances that will happen this year.”

  2. Give Kathy Schultz a pentathol exam …… many election results will be found fraudulent

  3. I remember 1996 very well Cal, all kinds of stinky tricks by the Democrats.

If I recall, Al Salvi really
was hit hard, for running against Durbin.

Durbin even used a Kitchen Militia endorsement letter for Al Salvi against him on the Chicago News Stations.

The letter was waved in the air, saying “see, Salvi has a Militia behind him”.

The ladies should have taken a fork to Durbin to test him, and then said, your done.

  4. Interesting that Barack said that elections could not be rigged but knowing for months prior that the Russians were meddling in our US election “campaign” by posting fake stuff on the internet to agitate Americans. Obama, and his discredited top intelligence guy, knew about this but did not warn Americans. They were super confident that Hillary was going to win and some of their thugs in VERY HIGH positions were busy with an insurance policy, according to agent Strock, to frame donald in case of the small possibility that he would win instead.

    No, he didn’t.

He just changed the website that reported them.

He didn’t hack into anything that would have actually changed any votes.

  6. Sounds like you all admit the ’16 presidential election was hacked and Trump should not be President?

  7. i’m shocked. cal spreading “fake news”: I’m shocked I tell you.

  8. Cal, you’ve mistakenly assumed that the leftist cyber lurkers would actually READ what you write (including the first sentence), or that they’d be capable enough of using a search engine to see if other sources are reporting the story.

  9. It is clear that the entire voting process in all States of the U.S. needs updating. That starts with a requirement that every U.S. citizen needs to re-register with sufficient and credible documents proving they are actually citizens. Then a voter photo-ID will be issued and will be required in order to vote in future elections. Consideration should be given to also include biometrics as part of registration and part of ID when voting. There are 50 countries in the world using this method.

Citizens not registered to vote and wishing to register will have to provide sufficient and credible documents to prove that they are indeed citizens. All present voter registration schemes such as “automatic” motor voter registration must be abolished.

Also needed is a process to remove voters from the registered voter data base when they die. Another process is needed when registered voters move from their precinct to another precinct within a state or another state.

Next, the entire vote casting, counting and reporting process needs to be re-engineered to include adequate controls and a requirement of paper ballots to provide a paper trail.

In light of present and future attempts by unfriendly nations and actors wishing to influence our ballot casting and counting in elections, Congress must authorize and allocate funds to pay for the developmental and administrative costs to upgrade our entire voter registration and election process.
