Wonder Laker Couple Arrested for Breaking into Cars

Burglary to Motor Vehicle Arrests; Seeking Help Identifying More Victims

Following the arrests of two suspects Wednesday, the Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who lives in the general area of the 7500 block of Center Drive in Wonder Lake to check their vehicles for missing items.

Donald Simon, 18, and Michelle Buhrke-Conway, 19, of Wonder Lake, were arrested and charged with multiple counts of Burglary to motor vehicle.

At approximately 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, an observant citizen caught the pair breaking into his vehicle.

The citizen was able to briefly detain Simon, but he was able to escape.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded and deputies set up a perimeter.

A brief search by deputies located both Simon and Buhrke-Conway within the established perimeter.

They were found to be in possession of items stolen from multiple vehicles in the area, arrested, and each was charged with three counts of Burglary to Motor Vehicle.

The pair had numerous items in their possession that police believe came from other burglarized vehicles.

Bond: $30,000, Next Court Date: August 24, 2018 at 9:00 a.m.

Arrested: Michelle Buhrke-Conway, Female, 19, Wonder Lake

Charges: 3 counts- Burglary to Motor Vehicle (class 3)

Bond: $30,000, Next Court Date: August 24, 2018 at 9:00 a.m.

The charges against these individuals are merely allegations against them. All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
