From Congressman Peter Roskam:

Roskam releases statement on U.S.-Mexico trade negotiations

Washington, D.C. – Representative Peter Roskam (IL-06) released the following statement on U.S.-Mexico trade negotiations:

Peter Roskam

“This Congress has worked tirelessly to modernize many areas of our government including our tax code and healthcare – modernizing the North American Trade Agreement has the potential to benefit American workers and businesses, as well as to update environmental and intellectual property standards.

“The understanding reached with Mexico is a vital step in our trade negotiations; however it is important that any final agreement also include our friend, ally and neighbor, Canada.

“As these negotiations move forward, I will be carefully reviewing the understanding in detail to ensure that the final agreement is in line with our national trade and economic priorities.”

Roskam on US-Mexico Trade Agreement — 9 Comments

  1. This agreement is kind of like the agreement we reached with North Korea- which is no say, no agreement at all.

I never imagined so many people would fall for Trump’s hokum again and again. How many times will you fall for the old “There’s nothing in writing, but boy, we sure made a great agreement” balogna?

  2. If it were not for Trump, these ass hats would not be doing anything.

I will hold my nose and vote for Roskam because I assume he will not vote for impeachment of Trump.

  3. So far the negotiation have only included auto manufacturing, and have failed to address both aluminum and steel tariffs.

So hip, hip hooray for a deal that literally ignores 88% of trade and so far doesn’t include Canada.

So it’s totally a great replacement for NAFTA, because Tuesday.

  4. Can’t believe the people who think there is a change.

The only thing that changed is the name and Mexico has NOT signed on until Canada joins in.

Mr. I only make the best deals” once again looks to fall on his sword.

But that’s ok, Illinois doesn’t need McHenry County, we already have overwhelmingly said no to Trump.

  5. Joekv – Balogna, If your going to “try” to sound smart, please use a dictionary.

Did you really believe a North Korean agreement could be hammered out in a 3 hour sit down. Makes you look kind of stupid to believe that.

I know all the libtards have magic wands that make deals happen over night.

Negotiations with Mexico are not even close to being completed.

For this sight not even being “real journalism” you read it an awful lot.

  6. Joekv ..

    Is Hillary president yet ?
Did Hillary get to pick 2 Supreme Court Justices ?

    MAGA/WINNING !

  7. I’m still working to perfect the resistance to MAGA, Joeky, DMAC57 reaction force flow.

When completed, I think I will call it the ‘DJ 1st law of Moronic Posting Dynamics’.

  8. It’s very telling that not one of the responses to my comment dealt with the the actual North Korea “agreement.”

Why do you think that is?

Because I was correct- there is no agreement.

I didn’t say the crisis was solved- Trump did.

And I didn’t believe the North Korea problem could be solved in a three hour sitdown-

    Trump did.

And indeed,I didn’t say trilateral treaties get hammered out by two of the three chatting on the phone for 15 minutes- who did? That’s right, Trump.

But we got to see a glorious display of Repubs in action- insults, name calling and as always, denial.

    Deep, deep denial.

  9. tronald chump stated he likes dictators who were not captured. Stay tuned…68 days…tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, meow, meow, meeeeeoooooowwwwwwwww
