Six Years for Gun Possession by a Felon

A press release from the McHenry County State’s Attorney:

CHRISTOPHER CZAJKOWSKI SENTENCED TO SIX YEARS IN THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS FOR UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF A WEAPON BY A FELON

Patrick D. Kenneally, McHenry County State’s Attorney, announces that 24-year-old Christopher Czajkowski of Gurnee, IL, pled guilty to the offense of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and was sentenced to six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

On August 20, 2017 Christopher Czajkowski was driving a gold Honda Van into a Marathon Gas Station in Spring Grove.

The defendant, a convicted felon, was suspected of selling narcotics out of his van.

Spring Grove police approached the vehicle and saw in plain view a green leafy substance on the center console.

Suspecting the substance to be contraband they detained the defendant and searched the vehicle.

Inside the compartment of the driver’s side door the police located a fully loaded 9 mm handgun.

The defendant has a prior conviction for the offense of Aggravated Robbery out of Lake County on August 23, 2012.

This case was investigated by the Spring Grove Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorneys Michael Combs and Rita Gara.
