Twelve Years for Home Invasion, Domestic Battery with Concrete Nail Gun

EDWARD J. ZEGERS SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS IN THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS FOR HOME INVASION

Patrick D. Kenneally, McHenry County State’s Attorney, announces that 53-year-old Edward Zegers, of Cary, Illinois, was sentenced to 12 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the offense of Home Invasion pursuant to a negotiated plea in front of the Honorable Sharon Prather on September 28, 2018.

Zegers broke into a home, knowing one or more persons was present, while armed with a concrete nail gun.

He struck one of the victims in the head with the nail gun.

Zegers also plead guilty to a Domestic Battery upon another victim in the home for which a conviction entered.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorneys Sharyl Eisenstein and Kyle Bruett. The case was investigated by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
