While I have not listened to the audio of yesterday’s McHenry County Finance Committee, I have been told that Chairman Jack Franks’ effort to fund a newly-conceived “Inspector General” did not make the cut for next year’s budget.
It is not difficult to conclude that the Inspector General post was put forth to allow Franks to gain leverage over not only the departments that report to him, but also the independently-elected officials over which he has virtually no say.

Perhaps readers of the Northwest Herald will let us know if this defeat for Franks has been covered.
Within days you will see a flyer against those that voted no stating that they were against funding this job and that the no crowd is against fighting abuse and Fraud in government.
Never mind the truth that it is a duplicate position as most voters will not know that.
