McHenry County Refuses to Cite State Statute That Would Allow $100 Rebate to Some Homeowners for Past Valley Hi Overtaxation

A Freedom of information request was made of McHenry County government for statutory authorization to send $100 checks to all homeowners, except those who do not claim Homestead Exemptions.

Here is the disingenuous reply:

McHenry County Administration is in receipt of your FOIA request below.  However, the requested records (copies of state law) are not maintained or stored by McHenry County Administration and therefore, we do not have records that would be responsive to this request.   The Illinois Compiled Statutes are publically available through the Illinois General Assembly’s website at http://www.ilga.gov/

Thank you –

Scott Hartman
McHenry County Deputy County Administrator
and County Administration FOIA Officer
