Last night, the Sheriff’s Department issued this press release:

Sheriff’s Office Investigating a Triple Fatal Crash

A 20-year-old Woodstock man and two male passengers in his vehicle were killed in a one-vehicle crash in the early morning hours Sunday in the 3100 block of Lily Pond Road of unincorporated Woodstock, while a fourth victim remained hospitalized in serious condition.

Sunday at 3:32 a.m., the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, Woodstock Police Department and the Woodstock Fire Protection District responded to the crash involving a 1994 Jeep Cherokee.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the Jeep, driven by the 20-year-old man, was traveling northbound on Lily Pond Road.

The Jeep left the roadway south of McConnell Road to the west of the road and struck a tree.

The victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

The fourth occupant was transported to Northwestern Hospital in Huntley and later transported by ambulance to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge in serious condition.

The Jeep was not equipped with airbags and it is believed none of the occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of crash.

The investigation is currently ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Investigations Unit and the McHenry County Coroners’ Office.

Lily Pond Road is the first road going north from Route 14 heading toward Crystal Lake.

It has a wicked right turn down over the railroad tracks on the Way to McConnell Road less than a half mile from Route 14.
