Man Sentenced to Six Years for Being Drunk in a Hit and Run

JEFFREY A. HUNT SENTENCED TO SIX YEARS IN THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS FOR AGGRAVATED DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Patrick D. Kenneally, McHenry County State’s Attorney, announces that Jeffrey A. Hunt, age 54, pled guilty to the offense of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, a Class 1 Felony.

Hunt was sentenced to six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

In August of 2015, Jeffrey A. Hunt, was involved in a hit and run crash in the City of Crystal Lake.

Shortly after the crash, Woodstock Police Officer Pauley located the defendant in the vehicle he was driving on Route 14.

Officer Pauley conducted a traffic stop, and upon further investigation determined that defendant was under the influence of alcohol.

Hunt refused to perform field sobriety tests or submit to a breath test to determine the alcohol concentration in his body.

Officers located an open 40 oz bottle of beer in the vehicle.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Victor Escarcida of the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office and investigated by the Woodstock Police Department.
