State Rep. Allen Skillicorn View of Republican Party’s Future

A press release from State Rep. Allen Skillicorn:

Where does the Illinois Republican Party go from here?

East Dundee, IL – Where does the Illinois Republican Party go from here?

Up, because it is an opportunity to rebuild.

Bruce Rauner speaks to members of the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce in 2014.

The revelations from Governor Rauner regarding his total disregard for the Party and the people of Illinois have laid waste to what was left of his kind of Illinois GOP–Where one man and his money is all that matters.

One that

  • only blames others,
  • only attacks Speaker Madigan,
  • buys supporters,
  • bypasses the base,
  • disparages the Party’s President, and
  • cannot govern because “I’m not in charge.”

It is now in this new year that we, the Republicans of Illinois, must move forward from the deep disappoint and betrayal we experienced and take back our party.

Allen Skillicorn

We must set aside our differences and commit ourselves anew to the principles that made our Party and this Nation one of the greatest in human history.

Principles articulated in our Declaration of Independence, the US Constitution, the Republican National Platform and the Illinois GOP Platform.

That all people are created equal in their dignity and value, they are endowed by their Creator with unalienable rights which government was formed to protect.

That everyone deserves access to economic opportunity, liberty, property and self-determination, to name a few.

To renew and reinvigorate our once great State and stem the tide of those rushing to escape by

  • giving parents back their rightful power in choosing their child’s education regardless of zip code,
  • reinvigorating business through stability and predictability with the least taxation and regulation necessary,
  • reforming pensions to ensure we can fulfill our commitments, and
  • offering the citizens of Illinois a positive choice for their future in a Party that can and will deliver on its promises.

Our opposition cannot be one another, but we must join together to resist the devastating policies and direction that

  • Governor-elect Pritzker,
  • 30-Year Speaker of the House Michael Madigan, and
  • the super-majority of Democrats at the state level, along with
  • House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and
  • Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer at the national level,

will take us as we hurl down a path to an inevitable economic abyss.

It’s going to take leadership and I vow to be a part of it.

We must find the courage and resolve to overcome what few disagreements we really have, to focus our energy and efforts on being the change that

  • senior citizens,
  • college students,
  • young families,
  • veterans, and
  • those most vulnerable

can believe in.

The alternative is unthinkable.

State Rep. Allen Skillicorn View of Republican Party’s Future — 11 Comments

  1. News is hard to come by in the remote jungles of McHenry County, but someone should send a dispatch to Allen with the last election results.

  2. This will happen, because: Trump and douchebags like Rauner, Roskam and Hultgren cleared out.

  3. Because of Our President Trump, We The People, can clean up our own States, knowing He is working on the DC Swamp which affects us all.

Illinois has been corrupt, for as many years as I can remember.

Thank You Allen Skillicorn for giving us a voice too, we can do this.

  4. The issue for the Republican Party is whether it is going to continue to exist anywhere after 2020.

The Democrats will be smart enough not to impeach Trump but rather damage him and then leave him to twist slowly in the wind.

Then there will be primary challenges from people like Romney, Kasich, Haley, Flake, that will tear into him over a dozen or so national debates.

If he wins the primary at all, Trump will limp into the general election like a wounded bull, and give rise to a national blue tsunami that will make the blue wave of 2018 look like a trickle.

The suburbs will pass permanently out of the Republican orbit and the GOP will be limited to rural areas, before it fades into history with the rise of a more polyglot, urban oriented and younger nation.

It’s all over. The GOP just doesn’t know it yet.

  5. Ted Cruz sponsoring a bill for term limits in Congress is a good step.

  6. The Republican Party that I supported for decades (and Rep. Skillicorn somewhat describes) is DEAD.

It has been hijacked by rapists, racists, hypocrites and worse.

The party of Trump and Roy Moore.

You are either with the hate filled racist rapists – or you are OUT.

That is truly how the disillusioned who remain still see it.

There can be no disagreement with the dictator.

The only people still buying what our party is selling are sad self-righteous egotists who cannot admit that they were tricked by a con-man.

I admire Rep. Skillicorn for still fighting the good fight – but the well has been poisoned.

The demographics (as KnownExtremist mentions) are daunting.

Age and population are against us.

Younger generations are not buying the politics of theocracy (they are not God-fearing) and they are not racist like generations that can still remember separate-but-equal as the norm.

They can see the hypocrisy of our dictator laid bare.

For many of us there is no longer a party that we can call home.

    Democrat or Racist?

    Neither label is appropriate.

  7. Re uninformed comments about who are the rapists, racists and hypocrites. In fact by news accounts, including firings and resignations over recent years, there have been far, far more Democrat politicians, Democrat sympathizers, liberals and leftists who have violated women than have been Republicans. The most prominent of these include Al Franken of MINN, John Conyers of MICH, Harvey Weinstein who is a Hollywood producer and Democrat Party campaign bundler and friends of the Obamas and Clintons, tv network news show hosts Matt Lauer and Charlie Rose.

On highjacking, it has been the Democrat Party that was hijacked by socialists, communists, kooks and far left wing extremists. Many in the Democrat Party have been promoting concepts, ideas and solutions that were once the exclusive domain of the communist party.

  8. The Republican Party only continues to today at all because it has cheated.

Gerrymandering, voter suppression, and appeals to baseless fears have kept it going after it should have committed demographic suicide.

Trump is not cleaning up the swamp. He IS the swamp.

Romney et all will not be able to save it. Its too late.

And it is the Tea Party that has hastened its demise by trying to insist on ideological purity and supporting pied piper politicians who told them what they wanted to hear.

And now all of the chickens will be coming home to roost.

    Cluck!

  9. Taxing rain water??????

This information must be posted for all to see and read what the Chicago demonrats are doing to our state!!
