CHRISTIAN HEANEY SENTENCED TO FIVE YEARS IN THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS FOR THE OFFENSE OF AGGRAVATED DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL

Patrick D. Kenneally, McHenry County State’s Attorney, announces that 48-year-old Christian Heaney of Johnsburg, IL, was sentenced to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the offense of aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol.

Under truth in sentencing guidelines the defendant must serve 85 percent of his sentence.

On August 10, 2016 the defendant was driving his silver SUV in the area of the intersection of Route 31 and Route 12.

The defendant collided with a motorcycle being driven by 26 year old Steven Thomas.

Mr. Thomas was killed in the collision.

The defendant’s breath smelled of alcohol and chemical testing revealed his blood alcohol level to be above the legal limit.

This case was investigated by the Richmond Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Michael Combs and John Gibbons.
