Trump Begins Using Dem “Extremist” Labeling Strategy

Have you noticed how Democrats are moving farther and farther from mainstream views on abortion.

I won’t do more than mention the New York law and the Virginia proposal that would allow abortion of babies up to the minute before birth.

Or the bills being considered in a Springfield committee today.

President Donald Trump rolled out this framing of the issues at his State of the State Speech:

“There could be no greater contrast to the beautiful image of a mother holding her infant child than the chilling displays our nation saw in recent days. Lawmakers in New York cheered with delight upon the passage of legislation that would allow a baby to be ripped from the mother’s womb moments before birth,” Trump said (full comments below).

“These are living, feeling, beautiful babies who will never get the chance to share their love and dreams with the world. And then, we had the case of the governor of Virginia where he stated he would execute a baby after birth,” he added.

“To defend the dignity of every person, I am asking Congress to pass legislation to prohibit the late-term abortion of children who can feel pain in the mother’s womb,” the president said. “Let us work together to build a culture that cherishes innocent life. And let us reaffirm a fundamental truth: all children—born and unborn—are made in the holy image of God.”

At the Conservative Political Action Conference, Trump doubled down:

“Democrats are embracing open borders, socialism, and extreme late-term abortion,”he said.

Trump said the pro-abortion agenda had become “extreme” [emphasis added] and pointed s evidence the 12 times House and Senate Democrats have blocked the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.

“Weeks ago, lawmakers in New York cheered as they passed legislation to allow babies to be ripped from the womb of their mothers,” the president said. “They will execute the baby outside the womb. They will execute the baby after birth. This is a radical agenda by the Democrats.”

I’m not suggesting that abortion be the only arrow in the “extremist” labeling effort.

Surely, the rush to the extreme left by all sorts of Democratic Party presidential aspirants will provide lots of other issues.

The Green Raw Deal comes to mind.

  1. What does that say about us as a people when we do not protect the our most vulnerable The older I get the more I am inclined to think “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” has devolved from a declaration in our demand for independence subsequently memorialized in our Constitution, to today, a cheap political slogan used to appease the uneducated masses.

We are in a post Constitutional era because we the people let it happen.

  2. Just a reminder that the Constitution was designed to keep all you f’wits at each other’s throats and it’s doing that quite nicely.

  3. When the sound of marching throngs returns, people like Jack Franks, Bernie and Schiff will be streaming for the exits to their beautiful if ill-gotten villas in the Dominican Republic and other Caribbean locales.

  4. Re: “the Constitution was designed to keep all you f’wits at each other’s throats”

    Please explain.

  5. Ahhh the squirrel message from the GOP to deflect from the abominal person that occupies the WH.

Then again McHenry was the ONLY collar county to vote for trump.

That says a lot about McHenry values.

    Want to talk about that?

  6. Yeah, let’s, Dmac, at least we have values.
