The Crystal Lake Police Department Announces Traffic Delays Expected on March 13, 2019
As announced by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department, a portion of the funeral procession for fallen Deputy Jacob Keltner will travel through Crystal Lake on March 13, 2019. The announced route for the procession through Crystal Lake is as follows:
East on Route 14 from the City of Woodstock
South on Route 31 from Route 14
West on Rakow Road from Route 31
Continue onto Randall Road from Rakow Road
Randall Road into Lake in the Hills
In order to facilitate the procession’s travel through our City and provide for the safety of motorists, pedestrians, and those bystanders wishing to pay their respects, the Crystal Lake Police Department will greatly limit access along the route during the procession. Specifically, those traveling in or through Crystal Lake on March 13, 2019, approximately between the hours of 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm, should avoid attempting to:
Cross Route 14 or travel east on Route 14
Travel south on Route 31 from Route 14
Cross Rakow Road or travel west on Rakow Road from Route 31 through
Algonquin Road
The hours are approximate: The procession is not expected to last two hours; however, the exact time of the procession’s entry into Crystal Lake remains flexible dependent upon road and weather conditions, as well as logistical reasons. The City of Crystal Lake would like to thank the public for its support, patience, and understanding as we honor Deputy Keltner.

I question why they are making this a bigger deal than Christopher Lambert. They are turning this into a complete circus. Think about how terrible they are treating the actual friends of this man (they have to park at WalMart and shuttle bus in) just to put on this horrible show.

I suggest it is total disrespect to turn this man’s funeral into a circus just to flaunt your pomp and circumstance. Why not let the actual family and friends have their peace and put your circus on some other date far away and have your memorial to him then? Turning this into a show is highly objectionable. It borders on blasphemy.

People often make really bad judgments when they are under such extreme conditions.
Just the fact that the bereaved wife is penning letters to the newspapers shows how unstable she is right now.
It’s a really messed up world we live in.
I have nothing but sympathy for those left behind by this senseless killing in the line of duty but I read this itinery and shudder.
All three of our major arteries in Woodstock, Crystal Lake and Lake and the hills all but shut down for the better part of a day?

Let me just say that perhaps it’s important to us to show our sympathy and support for this real hero of a fallen officer after so many were duped by Gleniwicz of Lake County.
Keltner was the real deal.
