Casinos Can Move Anywhere under Newly-Approved Senate Bill

Want a casino in Waukegan or Rockford or the Chain of Lakes?

Under Senate Bill 516, passed 44-5, riverboats would be able to move anywhere.

Here is what State Senators saw when they voted on the bill on April 11th:

Amends the Riverboat Gambling Act.

Authorizes gambling to be conducted at land-based casinos.

Makes conforming changes throughout the Act.

Provides that an application for an owners license shall include an additional fee of $100,000 to the Illinois Gaming Board.

Provides that the fee for renewal of an owners license is $100,000.

Provides procedures for a riverboat to relocate to new a location.

Removes provisions that describe the geographical locations certain riverboats shall be docked.

Makes other changes. Effective immediately.

  1. Between the coming Illinois fair income tax and now casinos everywhere, one would think Illinois might become solvent.

    Of course, that will not be happening.

  2. All forms of government controlled gambling are in my opinion a voluntary tax on the poor.

  3. I’ll move back to Illinois, if I can have a video poker machine installed next to my toilet in the bathroom.

    Oh, and hot chicks to serve me drinks as I play.

    Reminds me of a toilet flushing right down the sewer hole.

    Imagine that our new Governor had the toilets taken out of his next door mansion to get the property taxes reduced.

    I bet the folks in New Jersey are laughing at the state that Illinois finds itself in.
