Gun Rights Advocates Call for County Board Action Against Springfield Gun Control Bills

From McHenry Countyu oard member Chuck Wheeler:

County Resolution Seeking 2nd Amendment County Sanctuary Status!

Since last year, 64 of the state’s 102 counties have sought and achieved 2nd Amendment sanctuary status.

The state legislature has sought to restrict legal gun owners’ rights and put into motion laws that would make legal law-abiding gun owners like you and me, criminals!

Many have argued that some proposed legislation might be later ruled unconstitutional as a violation of the 2nd and 4th Amendments of the US Constitution. HB 96 proposed in the State legislature would make it a requirement that all FOID card holders be fingerprinted at their own expense.

HB 1465 is a violation of the 4th Amendment (unreasonable search and seizure) requiring responsible persons under the age of 21 to surrender lawfully owned firearms or be faced with becoming an instant felon – – even though they can serve in the military.

The Bill fails to state how to relinquish firearms.

These are just two proposed bills and there are several others that would tax ammunition, eliminate bump stocks, make bullet proof vests illegal or increase waiting periods to purchase firearms.

It is time we, as  responsible firearm owners, take action!

We want you to visit the joint McHenry County Law and Government / Liquor Committee meeting on April 30, 2019 at 8:30 am in the County Building (667 Ware Rd. Woodstock) on the 2nd floor.

[Be there at 8:30, if you want to make pulic comment.]

Tell your elected board members at this meeting that you want them to draft a resolution making Mchenry County a 2nd Amendment Sanctuary County!

Demand that the county tell the state legislature not to pass laws which further restrict the rights of lawful gun owners.

Follow-up!

We need speakers present at the Committee of the Whole Board Meeting: May 16, 9:00 a.m.

[Again, be on time, if you want to speak.]

County Board Room, 667 Ware Rd., Woodstock, IL. 60098, and the Board Meeting on May 21, 7:00 p.m.

Speak up and let those representing you know that you want McHenry County to be a 2ndAmendment Sanctuary County.

Attached is exhibit 1 (the Gun Sanctuary Map) and a listing of all McHenry County Board members by District, with their telephone numbers.  Feel free to call them and discuss your wishes for preservation of our God-given 2nd Amendment rights!

  1. Sad that I only see about 5-6 solid Republicans on the County Board.

The rest are Democrats and will cave to the pressures of Jack Franks!

Disappointing that our County will be going down a road that looks like Springfield!
