  1. The problem with any form of Democracy is the uneducated and unintelligent will always outnumber those who have read books and have intelligences higher than room temperature.

The ultimate betrayal of any form of Democracy is when the selfish self involved smart ones outnumber the selfless and the Citizen.

The self enriching nihilists have overrun the Illinois power structure and believe their gravy train is never ending.

1% has always led the rest.

    The nihilism will end.

    Balance will be restored.

The idiots and uneducated will suffer the most but will forget in a generation.

    The cycle will repeat.

    Sigh.

  2. To me the figures just don’t add up.

We are told about 3% of tax filers would pay for the $3.4 billion tax increase.

In reality their tax increase would be more since they need to cover the tax decrease given to the remaining 97% of Illinois.

I looked and couldn’t find data as to the dollar amount the top 3% pay but I doubt it would be close to $3.4 billion even if the graduated tax passes.

  3. The dumb, the uneducated, the useful idiots, mostly Democrat voters, will eat up this Pravda style propaganda from Democrat Party comrades. Their style is to pit class against class and to obfuscate. No actual details in this ad, but the message is to punish those with higher incomes.

In this particular ad, “LOWER RATES” means 4.90 percent rather than the current 4.95 percent and applies to those families with incomes ranging from $10,000 to $100,000.

So, how much will families within these income amounts NOT have to pay with the lower rates? Paltry amounts, as follows:

A family with an income of $100,000 will save $50.
A family with an income of $50,000 will save $25.
A family with an income of $25,000 will save $12.50.
A family with an income of $10000 will save $5.

    Big F—— Deal.

The math adds up. You can see it here:

  5. AlabamaShake,

That doesn’t tell me the figures for the top 3%.

It only gives breakdowns by income.

It does not say what percent of the filers, for instance, make over $500,000 per year.

  6. Alabama Snake, you are the liar!

Governor J. B. Pritzker should seek the advice of Andrew Cuomo in New York.

Last month, New York governor Andrew Cuomo and Illinois governor J. B. Pritzker stood together to blame the 2017 federal tax cuts for the flight of high earners and middle-class families from their states.

But just days before, Cuomo admitted he knows something Pritzker seemingly doesn’t: They’re leaving to escape painful progressive state income taxes.

Cuomo said New York took a $2.3 billion hit in income-tax revenues. He panned any new tax on millionaires.

But that message isn’t getting through to Illinois, where Pritzker wants to mirror the failed tax structure in New York by replacing Illinois’s constitutionally protected flat tax with a progressive income tax.

Such a move would be disastrous for Illinois’s economy, forcing middle-class families and high earners, as well as job creators, to leave at an even faster pace.

And it wouldn’t ultimately solve the state’s serious fiscal crises or even raise the $3.4 billion Pritzker promises
