Illinois Right to Life Action Responds to Extreme Abortion Passing Illinois House

(May 28, 2019 – Chicago) Illinois Right to Life Action responded on Tuesday to the passage of the extreme abortion bill, SB 25, in the Illinois State House of Representatives.

This follows the Sunday night hearing, held on little notice, in which HFA 1 – the amendment containing the dangerous abortion language – was rushed out of the Appropriations-Human Services Committee.

Ralph Rivera

“No words can express the disappointment and heartache pro-life Illinoisans, like myself, are feeling,” said Ralph Rivera, Legislative Chairman for Illinois Right to Life Action.

“The incredible grassroots efforts of Illinois citizens who worked against this bill was astounding and makes it clear that we were in the majority.

“Representative Avery Bourne’s defense of life and women on the House floor today was a testament to the truth of what we stand for, and I thank her for that.”

According to legal analysis of SB 25, the radical legislation maintains the core elements of the so-called Reproductive Health Act (HB 2495) and lays the groundwork for the repeal of Illinois Parental Notification (HB 2467).

SB 25 expressly

  • strips all rights from unborn children
  • changes the definition of viability and
  • legalizes abortions through all nine months of pregnancy, up to the moment of birth, for any reason.

Any restrictions or regulations on abortion are effectively eliminated.

Non-physicians will be allowed to perform chemical abortions.

Licensing and health and safety inspections for abortion clinics will be eliminated.

Meanwhile, private health insurance policies – including those for religious organizations – will be forced to cover all abortions, without exemptions.

Creating a “fundamental right” to abortion, SB 25 also threatens the current Parental Notice of Abortion Act, requiring the parents of a minor girl to be notified forty-eight hours prior to her having an abortion.

“Illinois politicians deliberately voted against the wishes of the people – which had been made very clear by the over 4,000 citizens who rallied in Springfield and the 18,000 witness slips that were filed in committee,” said Mary Kate Knorr, spokesperson for Illinois Right to Life Action.

“They knew exactly what the people of the state wanted, but they sided with the promise of Personal PAC’s campaign money in the upcoming election.

“It is time for the pro-life people of Illinois to stand up. Legislators may have pretended not to hear when your voices echoed throughout the Capitol in March, but your vote in 2020 will send a message they can’t ignore.”

SB 25 will go back to the IL Senate for concurrence, which should take place within the week.

  1. It is done.

The Illinois Democrats have officially declared to the world it is okay to murder one segment of our society in this state.

They have also screamed their utter disdain for the health and welfare of women by repealing all health protections and oversight.

    Incredible.

    What a gift.

With the legal precedent of State sponsored murder and destruction of women there is zero possibility those who vote among themselves to destroy any other segment of Illinois society can be prosecuted.

What would stop a group of people deciding politicians are a class of our society not worthy of legal protections and then killing all of them legally?

    Nothing.

When you decide one group is okay to murder, another is unworthy of basic health protections and another is above the Law you create the very recipe of utter societal destruction.

It is just awesome to watch politicians sow the seeds of their own destruction.

    Nicely done.

  2. Funny way to increase tourism in Illinois: be the only full term baby-killing/infanticide state in the Midwest, and get your ‘problem’ knifed courtesy of Illinois taxpayers.

But that’s a kind of weird reverse tourism bc Illinois pays for the incoming out-of-staters, costing our bankrupt state even more moolah for the planned parenthood ghouls being kicked out of bordering states.

Just another example of Illinois being the upside-down Great Outlier of the 50 states.
