Bicycle Ride Sharing Coming

From the Environment Defenders of McHenry County:

ZAGSTER BIKE SHARE PROGRAM

Visit McHenry County and Zagster, Inc. will be launching a new bikeshare program that will provide all McHenry County residents and visitors with a convenient, affordable and healthy way to get around town and enjoy their free time.

Starting June 15, 2019, thirty cruiser bikes will be available at 6 stations for members to use for on-demand, local trips.

Riders join the program by signing up for an annual membership.

The membership price is $25 per year.

A student membership is available at $15 per year for students and staff of McHenry County College and Aurora University.

Rides for members — who must be 18 or older — are FREE for under 2 hours, then $1 every 30 minutes up to $16/ride.

A Pay-As-You-Go option is also available without a membership for $1 every 30 minutes up to $16/ride.

The Tranpsortation Committee of The Environmental Defenders is excited to help promote this program!

Kick-off for this first ever bike share program in McHenry County is Friday, June 14 from 10 AM to NOON at McHenry at City of McHenry Rec Center, 333 S. Green St.

  1. Might be OK if there are strict rules that keep these bikers on 25 MPH (max) city type residential streets and OFF of any road or highway with higher speed limits (30 MPH to 55 MPH). There are already too many stupid people riding bikes on rural roads that is very dangerous to them and to motorists.

  2. This is straight out of the liberal playbook. I dont buy it.

Libs can take my HEMI when they take my GLOCK.

  3. Public interest in this lame idea approaches nil.

Sounds like something Franks cooked up.
