Why would this hurt Lightfoot in the next election?
The people who vote for mayor in Chicago would be delighted if she could get Governor Madigan to bail the city out.
It’s the rest of the state that should be outraged.
Lightfoot is asking that the people of Illinois pay for the bail out of Chicago’s pension debts. Additionally, there has recently been a %60 increase in property taxes for the people living in the City of Chicago. Everyone in Illinois should be outraged. Just because someone lives in Chicago does not mean they agree that Chicago’s pension debt should be paid by the people who reside outside of Chicago.

What are some comparative real estate taxes, without senior type exemptions, for houses selling this year in Chicago vs Crystal Lake? For houses sold for $: 200K, 300K, 400K, 500K, 600K, 700K etc
Chicago is such as great place what with more cultural attractions, bus/train transportation, restaurants, Lake Michigan shore/beaches/drinking water, diversity, wrigleyville, Cubs, Bears, Sox, Bulls, Soldiers Field, police force, the coming Obama Library, etc. Chicagoans SHOULD pay way more than those in McHenry County where we have to do without all of those great things.
