Border Visits by Congress Folks

From Former Quigley Supporter:

Undocumented Immigrants Rush Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge Hours Before Congressional Visits

With three separate congressional delegations visiting the Rio Grande Valley on Friday, 47 undocumented immigrants in 3 waves rushed the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge early Friday morning in an attempt to “bridge-running” into the United States.

Sixteen individuals were taken by CBP for processing and deportation.  Mexican officials took the rest.

Of the three congressional delegations visiting the Rio Grande Valley in south Texas on Friday, the most interesting, honest and bipartisan of the 3 is the delegation from the House Problem Solvers Caucus (PSC).

This caucus, currently made up of 48 members, split evenly between Democrats and Republicans, was the group that successfully broke the partisan gridlock for the emergency funding for the southern border last month.

The PSC convinced House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to accept the Senate-amended H.R. 3401 emergency southern border funding bill as-is, which created the uproar among progressives and the emergence of “The Squad”.

The PSC is the most honest assessment of what was seen at the border, and their bipartisan press conference was recorded in its entirety by KGBT-TV.

Congresswoman Underwood and Congressman Casten both need to take a lesson from the PSC, just as they did last month with their votes on H.R. 3401 on June 27, and quickly SOLVE the border crisis.

To review the PSC’s impact on H.R. 3401, the initial House vote on H.R. 3401 on June 25 is below, pretty much on party-lines:

The Senate followed-up the next day, and with the approval of a gut & replace amendment, the final Senate passage :

The twelve members of the PSC who travelled to south Texas addressed the press in a roundtable press conference for nearly 25 minutes on Friday evening.

Please note the cooperative, conciliatory and humble tone both the Democratic and Republican members share.

None are grandstanding.

The PSC simply wants to bring a legislative end to the border crisis as soon as possible.

From the Illinois delegation, only Congressman Dan Lipinski is a member of the PSC and he did not accompany the PSC to the border on Friday.

The link below contains the video about halfway down the page:

Democratic Senators and House Homeland Security Committee Delegations

The Senate delegation led by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer was composed of all Democrats and accompanied by acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan.

Prior to leaving the Rio Grande Valley on Friday afternoon, the Senators held a press conference which is broken down into 2 videos.

Senator Bob Menendez (D, NJ) speaks Spanish during the part 1 video which you can skip over to Senator Schumer when he takes back the mic.

Senator Durbin addresses the press in the press conference, too.

The House Homeland Security Committee delegation, which included Congresswoman Underwood, had a story, too.

The House delegation did not speak to the press.

The video you catch a glimpse of Underwood.

At this point, Underwood has not released anything in social media about her visit to the border.  No press releases have been released.

President Wins a Round in Court on Health Care

A Washington D.C. federal judge ruled in favor of the Trump Administration to expand the sale and availability of short-term medical insurance plans that do not meet the Affordable Care Act compliance.

Congresswoman Underwood tweeted on Saturday renewing calls how .H.R. 1010 to end the sale of the short-term plans, or “junk plans” as she calls them.  The Bloomberg link is below:

Sue Rezin Candidacy Prompts New Fundraising Appeal from Underwood’s Campaign Twitter

Early Saturday afternoon, Lauren Underwood’s campaign issued this tweet:

State Senator Sue Rezin is the 6th candidate to enter the race for the 2020 Republican nomination for the 14th district.

When the House’s August recess begins this Friday, Underwood is heading to California, where she has one public appearance planned.

One would guess that the Monday early evening appearance in the Mission District in San Francisco is not the only political event she will be attending during her California trip

  1. A very famous American once said:

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”

Why do some people continually refer to the color of skin such as in the picture above, “The youngest Black Woman in Congress”?

  2. And that famous American was spied upon by a federal bureau that does investigations per the orders of a Democrat President’s administration.

  3. Cal, please change headline. Should be “Border Visit by Congress Jokes”

  4. When clicking the link to listen to the Problem Solvers Caucus roundtable news conference, when you play the video on that page, you may need to click the sound icon on the video embedded in the article to hear the sound.

  5. Bred has a big point. The libtards insist everybody swoon and vote for Voodoo Girl bc she’s black.

    That’s not right.

Because if anybody said vote for X bc he/she’s white, the MSM fake news would crucify the speaker.

That’s why nobody believes the MSM, it’s all fake.

Wait for the fake polls to come out showing Trump 29 points behind Biden and Pocahontas, just like they did when Queen Hillary was waltzing to her coronation.

  6. Thank you professor. Inspired in your intellectual audacity, I have a quote from a very famous American; so famous that the mere mention of his name makes me feel uncomfortable: “The time has come for an all-out world war against poverty. The rich nations must use their vast resources of wealth to develop the underdeveloped, school the unschooled, and feed the unfed. Ultimately a great nation is a compassionate nation.” Wait a minute! Was this famous American a Socialist, which really means a Communist? Stay tuned…tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, meeeeeeoooooooowwwwwwwwwwww…

  7. Another quote from this very famous American who must have been a Communist although he was a critic of Communism: “Capitalism is always in danger of inspiring men to be more concerned about making a living than making a life. We are prone to judge success by the index of our salaries or the size of our automobiles, rather than by the quality of our service and relationship to humanity-thus capitalism can lead to a practical materialism that is as pernicious as the materialism taught by communism”. Stay tuned…tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, meeeeeeoooooooowwwwwwwwwwww…

  8. Another quote from a Communist whose federal Holiday should be abolished: “True compassion is more than flinging a coin to a beggar. It comes to see that an edifice which produces beggars needs restructuring”. Stay tuned…tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, meeeeeeoooooooowwwwwwwwwwww…

  9. Another quote from a Communist who should be retroactively investigated for sedition against the private sector: “Now everyone knows that the labor movement did not diminish the strength of the nation but enlarged it. By raising the living standards of millions, labor miraculously created a market for industry and lifted the whole nation to undreamed of levels of production. Those who attack labor forget these simple truths, but history remembers them”. Stay tuned…tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, meeeeeeoooooooowwwwwwwwwwww…

  10. Another quote from someone who must have been a horrible human being: “The evils of capitalism are as real as the evils of militarism and evils of racism”. Stay tuned…tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, meeeeeeoooooooowwwwwwwwwwww…

  11. Please join me to protest against this Communist the next time we honor his memory next January during the remembrance of his life (I will not mention his name because it makes me feel uncomfortable): “In our glorious fight for civil rights, we must guard against being fooled by false slogans, as ‘right-to-work.’ It provides no ‘rights’ and no ‘works.’ Its purpose is to destroy labor unions and the freedom of collective bargaining… We demand this fraud be stopped”. Stay tuned…tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, meeeeeeoooooooowwwwwwwwwwww…

  12. Uuuuffff! I can’t stand this man any longer! I need a vacation to Wall Street. “We have deluded ourselves into believing the myth that capitalism grew and prospered out of the Protestant ethic of hard work and sacrifices. Capitalism was built on the exploitation of black slaves and continues to thrive on the exploitation of the poor, both black and white, both here and abroad”. Stay tuned…tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, meeeeeeoooooooowwwwwwwwwwww…

  13. More words of gibberish from Cultural Marxist Pussy Boy.

Time is running out, #TRUMP2020 stay tuned… tic, tock, tic, tock, tick, tock,
    meeeeeoooooowwwwwww.

  14. Is that Llavona a Meth head or something?

I’ve learned to skip his rubbish.

  15. Per the famous American, we should not take color into account in anything. But, the Democrat Party does not believe that. This party has sponsored a group in the U.S. Congress for many, many years which only admits U.S. Representatives and Senators if they are of a certain skin color. And, it is not white, it is not yellow, it is not red.

  16. Pat at 2:22 has good point. The media is mostly left wing and in the tank for Democrats and liberals. They CANNOT be trusted. They are essentially the U.S. version of Pravda of the USSR many years ago.

  17. Pure entitlement when you can’t acknowledge that certain groups have been (and still are) completely underrepresented in Congress over the year.

Considering Republicans have 3 black members in congress, it’s self evident that GOP engages in white identity politics when Republicans like Bred wonder publicly, wondering why a diverse Congress is a good thing.

  18. Underwood side-show bobbette, still lying about Republicans cutting pre-existing conditions. Wow, she’s a special kind of stupid isn’t she.

  19. If this assault isn’t an example of an invasion, I don’t know what is!!!~

Deadly force must be used or this will continue and get increasingly. worse for our people on the borders! TRUMP 2020

  20. Hah, somebody stop Llarvona from studdering! Something trigger you, Angel? (over and over and over and over?) LOL

  21. It doesn’t matter if Lauren Underwood is black, white yellow or green. It doesn’t even matter that she went to the border. She has betrayed and failed the people on the issues connected to the AJ Freund case.

  22. Thank you professor! You continue to make a gigantic fool of yourself with that mysterious famous American you still refuse to name. Inspired in your titanic leadership and intellectual audacity, I feel compelled to provide an additional quote from that Communist, hateful agitator who never took “color into account in anything.” “Discrimination is a hellhound that gnaws at Negroes in every waking moment of their lives to remind them that the lie of their inferiority is accepted as truth in the society dominating them”. Stay tuned…tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, meeeeeeoooooooowwwwwwwwwwww…

  23. “Oh”, you said “Republicans have 3 black members in congress…”, who are these members?

I only can name 2: Senator Tim Scott (SC) and Congressman Will Hurd (TX).

    Who is the third?

And something you may want to include are the number of Republican women in the House.

Out of 197 Republicans in the House, only 13 are women.

  24. I couldn’t remember if it was 2 or 3 and didn’t bother to look it up.

Yes women are definitely underrepresented in Congress when you look at the percentages in the US vs members of congress.

  25. Sunshine commenters oppose Lauren Underwood = Lauren Underwood just got re-elected. Stay tuned…tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, meeeeeeoooooooowwwwwwwwwwww…

  26. There is a lot of money to be made keeping black inner city families firmly at the bottom rung of the ladder of our society.

Just ask Jesse Jackson and his ilk.

  27. A poster named “oh” stated:

“Considering Republicans have 3 black members in congress, it’s self evident that GOP engages in white identity politics when Republicans like Bred wonder publicly, wondering why a diverse Congress is a good thing.”

oh has a reading comprehension problem. “diversity” is not the issue when the Democrat Party has encouraged and condoned a special group in the U.S. Congress whose admission thereof is STRICTLY by color of skin. Membership in any group in the U.S. Congress should be determined by issues to be solved FOR Americans by members of Congress regardless of the color of their skin.

  28. tronald chump supporters want Congresswoman Ilhan Omar to leave the country. Inspired by this brilliant interpretation of the First Amendment of the United States Constitution, I beg my sunshine compassionate conservative brothers and sisters who are not happy with Honorable Congresswoman and accomplished professional nurse Lauren Underwood to immediately leave Illinois 14th congressional district and return to the congressional district they came from. Stay tuned…tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, meeeeeeoooooooowwwwwwwwwwww…

  29. Regarding, the picture on Underwood and the caption, “The youngest Black Woman in Congress”. What is the relevance to color. As a society we are supposed to be color-blind, yet some, mostly in the media keep up the practice of mentioning color when an African American is the topic.

You know the mostly left wing media has an agenda of some kind when they NEVER mention that Senator Barbara Feinstein is the oldest WHITE woman Senator.

  30. Don’t you love republikkklans who never see race or color? Where is a Bill O’Reiily when you need one? Stay tuned…tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, meeeeeeoooooooowwwwwwwwwwww…

  31. Angel Oh excuse me I mean Carlos Acosta is delusional.

By the way nice swerve and deflect while you should be making amends for the MURDER of Aj Freund you twisted SOB!

You apparently have plenty of time to spend on this blog while children are in jeopardy at DCFS.

It would be interesting to see how much time you spent on this blog while an employee for DCFS, working as a caseworker for the Freund family. While, you had plenty of time to be writing your nonsense on MCB when you should have been attending to the needs of AJ Freund.

  32. Carlos Acosta must go!

That Angel continues to be one twisted sister!

He must be eating way too many of those Girl Scout Cookies supplied by Lauren Underwood.

SHHHHHH.. Don’t tell any one. Carlos Acosta is a secret performer in those drag shows supported by Lauren Underwood. He just loves to lip sync those old renditions created by Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama.

Hey Carlos, it’s just not “APPROPRIATE”

  33. Hey, we have the “TWISTED SISTERS” in McHenry County!

Which by the way includes, Lauren Underwood, Carlos Acosta and Jack Franks.

By the way, “THE SQUAD” is not welcome here. The people have had enough of that nonsense.

  34. Agree! Another great point from my professor. I haven’t heard from Pravda-like liberal media outlets that my sunshine blogger is the oldest White dude alive. Reaching 184 years of age is no small feat. Stay tuned…tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, meeeeeeoooooooowwwwwwwwwwww…

  35. It’s a podcast billed as what it’s like to be the youngest black female in Congress.

“What is it like to be the youngest black woman in Congress?

Congresswoman Lauren Underwood is coming to Manny’s and she’ll be in conversation with journalist Kara Swisher!!”

Her race seems relevant to the topic of the interview.

“What it’s like to be an old white senator.”

Bred Winner you are a marketing genius and raise a GREAT point.

Why ISN’T anyone trying to book old white senators on podcasts to hear from THEIR point of view??????????

  36. “oh has a reading comprehension problem. “diversity” is not the issue when the Democrat Party has encouraged and condoned a special group in the U.S. Congress whose admission thereof is STRICTLY by color of ski

Membership in any group in the U.S. Congress should be determined by issues to be solved FOR Americans by members of Congress regardless of the color of their skin”

Are you talking about the Congressional Black Caucus?

Republicans have been a part of that.

Maybe you’re just so color blind you didn’t realize that there aren’t many black Republicans in Congress which explains why it’s made up of mostly Democrats.

But I’ll have you know that there have been eight…. yes eight black Republicans elected to Congress since the caucus was founded in 1971.

Of these eight, half have joined the CBC!

  37. “A Black woman in Congress”: How could that statement be so bothersome to sunshine commenters? It definitely has nothing to do with color, because they never see color…tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, meeeeeeoooooooowwwwwwwwwwww…

  38. ANGEL, if you noticed people are not trying to book DCFS workers connected to the Murder of AJ Freund.

    You are the real racist.

Now get along, and go join your band of “Twisted Sisters!”

  39. “oh” still has a reading comprehension problem. I never mentioned who, Democrat or Republican members of Congress, could join the Democrat sponsored group that only admits African Americans. Congress members other than African American are barred. A white member once asked to join and he was denied membership.

Looking at the group’s goals, apparently they think that Asian Americans and White Americans in Congress cannot help, perhaps are not smart enough, in their eyes. But, back in the mid-60’s, when the vast majority of Congress was white, the Congress passed the Civil Rights Act, which benefited African Americans. The Republicans in both the House and the Senate voted in a greater percent of their members than did the Democrats. Democrat Senator Gore from TENN voted against the Civil Rights Act.

  40. Conclusion: the minorities are the real racists oppressing other minorities. It began right from the foundation of this country when the majority of slave owners were African American themselves. Thank you professor! Keep educating the masses with more sunshine history lessons. Stay tuned…tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, meeeeeeoooooooowwwwwwwwwwww…

  41. Along these lines, when Beto O’Rourke was elected to Congress in 2012, he tried to join the Congressional Hispanic/Latino caucus because he represented a district, the TX-16, that was over 80% Hispanic.

He was denied membership because the members were to be of Hispanic/Latino heritage.

O’Rourke said he respected the by-laws and moved on.

His successor elected last year, Veronica Escobar who is an ally of O’Rourke was admitted.

  42. Love when Republicans point how their party voted over 50 years ago to explain the politics of their party today.

Look at Abe Lincoln, he was a Republican!

    It’s so dumb.

Reagan wouldn’t even be a Republican now a days with his amnesty and ballooning debt.

Although today’s GOP seems to not care about debts and deficit now that they are in power and can’t blame dems for debts and deficits.

Also makes it tough when GOP passed a huge tax breaks to corporations and their ultra rich donors which exploded the deficit.

Apparently if you severely cut the amount of money you take in, then spend more on defense, you end up with higher debt.

I remember when every Republican said the greatest threat to our country is the ballooning debt.

Now that it’s way worse under Trump and 2 years of total GOP control?

    Crickets. Crickets. Crickets. Crickets.

  43. Reagan famously said that he did not leave the Democrat Party, that it left him.

No conservative likes deficits which of course add to the national debt.

The U.S. House and the U.S. Senate must jointly approve each year’s budget. Current House is Democrat controlled so they can cut spending.

Of course the amount of deficits and increasing national debt under the current president is not good. Duh!

But, the current guy is not as bad as the previous, Obama.

Average increase of national debt each month under Obama was $97 Billion.

Average increase of national debt each month under Trump is $72 Billion.

In last 2.5 years, economy, increase in GDP, reduction in unemployment have all improved under Trump. Part of the reason for these is the Trump Administration’s elimination of needless regulations which stymie business and growth.

  44. No conservative batted an eye at the tax cut which ballooned the deficit. Not a single one. It’s all phony baloney when you hear conservatives complain about the deficit because every single one voted to balloon it with that tax bill.

The current guy inherited a great economy from the previous guy. The previous guy inherited a sh*t economy that was on the verge of collapsing due to (close your ears and shut your eyes Bred) DEGEGULATION in the housing and financial markets. That’s all undisputed. What is also undisputed is that the budget passed by the Republican controlled house ballooned the deficit because of a YUGE tax break which the Dems voted against. Undisputed facts. Now if you think that the GOP tax cut had nothing to do with the ballooning deficit then you are not living in reality. When you decrease the amount of money you take in and don’t cut the spending levels you create bigger deficits. Maybe the GOP should have cut spending when the enacted the tax cuts. the reasons they didn’t is because people would have gone crazy giving a tax cut to corporations at the same time as cutting services like Medicaid and Medicare. GOP says they care about deficits but the tax bill exposed the deficit hawks as full of sh*t.

If you don’t think deregulation contributed to the economic problems of 2008 then you are ill-informed. Dems are to blame for deregulation. I am not saying GOP completely owns that but the problem was deregulation. People got houses will crazy mortgages who had no business getting houses with crazy mortgages. Banks kept flipping the mortgages so they all got paid and got their bonuses and they didn’t have to eat it when the mortgagee defaulted. Then the chickens came home to roost and the economy was f’ed on a global scale. Deregulation caused that.

Now if Dems take back the White House you can bet 100% that GOP will be screaming to cut spending because they aren’t in control anymore. And because politics is a game.

  45. look at any unemployment numbers graph over last 10 years. there’s no evidence that Trump policies work better than Obama’s policies.

It’s the same decline that’s been happening since the peak at the end of 2009.

I’m open to listening to you provide any type of evidence (key word is evidence) that the unemployment rate over the last 10 years correlates to regulation and deregulation policies of the current and past administration.

  46. Sure there is evidence that Trump’s policies work. Very low unemployment rates, lowest unemployment rates ever recorded for African Americans and Hispanics.

Investors voted with their pocketbooks and cash quickly after Trump was elected. They felt that his ideas and policies would spur economic development. The Dow and S&P went up immediately after Trump was elected. GDP growth was not so good during Obama and has since picked up with Trump at the helm. Obama was merely a community organizer. Trump was a businessman and voters wanted change from the usual politicians such as Obama. Hillary Clinton, besides being a thug and had obstructed justice with emails and destruction of evidence had zero business acumen. She was merely a wife of a past president and she had no charisma. Fortunately for our Nation, Hillary was rejected.

Good part of reason for collapse in 2008 was CRA, Community Reinvestment Act, promoted by top Democrats. That act, promoted bad loans. Barack Obama as a community organizer, politician supported policies for making bad loans. Obama was a part of and instigator of Acorn which was a part of the bad loan schemes.

  47. My brilliant professor, did you figure out the name of that famous American you quoted the other day? Or is it that the mere mention of his name makes you cringe? You seem to be doing OK quoting the Quipper by name. though. Or is it perhaps that famous American became a little too anti private sector for your taste. Paraphrasing Ronald Reagan: “I did not come to this sunshine blog, this sunshine blog came to me.” Stay tuned…tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, meeeeeeoooooooowwwwwwwwwwww…

  48. The declines in unemployment are a continuation of the declines the last 6 years under Obama.

That’s not evidence of a change in regulatory olicy.

If anything it shows deregulation has no effect.

    Prove that statement wrong.

    You can’t.

Markets are up what maybe 50% since the election?

    Markets tripled under Obama.

    Prove that wrong.

    You can’t.

    Markets did better under Obama.

    Prove that wrong.

    You can’t.

Like I thought, your evidence is merely name calling and way off topic comments about Hilary/emails but no evidence.

You proved my point by typing a response with no evidence to back up your claim.
