Allen Skillicorn

Crystal Lake, IL – State Representative Allen Skillicorn (R-Crystal Lake) today is formally endorsing State Sen. Jim Oberweis for Congress in the 14th District and is urging 14th District voters to rally around a true conservative who has a proven record of standing up for taxpayers.

“It is no secret that one of the issues I am most passionate about is taxes,” Skillicorn said.

“From Day One in the State Legislature, I have been a consistent opponent to tax increases.

“The one member in the State Senate with a similar record of opposition to taxes is Jim Oberweis.

“Lauren Underwood will do nothing but vote for tax increases.

“Jim Oberweis will stand up for taxpayers.”

Skillicorn said Oberweis also will be an advocate for strong border security.

“The open border policies being pushed by team Nancy Pelosi/Lauren Underwood are putting our nation at risk,” Skillicorn said.

“I have every confidence that Jim Oberweis will be the leader we need on border security.”

Sen. Oberweis said he is honored to have Skillicorn’s support.

“I am honored and humbled to have a conservative champion like Allen Skillicorn supporting me for Congress,” Oberweis said.

“It means a great deal to me to have his support because Allen has become a strong voice for conservative ideas and conservative values.

“His support speaks volumes. It sends a message that I am the conservative leader voters can trust and I am the conservative who can beat the Pelosi/Underwood team.

Skillicorn Endorses Oberweis for Congress — 3 Comments

  1. First, congratulations to Jim Oberweis for picking up another endorsement from a current state legislator.

At least Allen Skillicorn is consistent, since he backed Oberweis in the 2008 Republican primary over Chris Lauzen (and publicized that 2008 support for Oberweis earlier this year) and given Lauzen had the consistent no-tax voting record in the state senate from 1993 through the 2008 primary, one could ask why he backed an unproven candidate for Congress back in 08.

While Oberweis won that primary, we have to remember how he fared, twice, against Democrat Bill Foster in the general elections (both special and regular).

Little unusual for an incumbent state representative facing a contested primary from a credible opponent to endorse in another contested race, and granted, Skillicorn does not live in IL-14 since the last redistricting, some of the constituents he represents in Grafton Township do.

As I wrote in a previous article, I do have to make a decision on whom to vote for in the 66th representative district primary and eventually the general election in November.

As I also wrote, I do not make my voting decisions based on whom a candidate supported in past primaries.

I did not say that about whom a candidate backs in the current primary.

  2. WTH?

    Oberweis isnt Tea Party!

    he’s a RINO!

    Allen what are you doing!!

  3. That cow milking stunt is now paying off. That’s what a good tax-fighter politician looks like! Stay tuned…tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, mooooooooooooooooooo…
