Army veteran and former priest, Anthony Catella, filed his Statement of Candidacy and Statement of Organization with the Federal Elections Commission on Monday. The filing of the paperwork means Catella can legally begin raising money for his congressional campaign.
Catella, 49, of St. Charles, is an Army veteran, Army Reserves veteran (called back to duty month after 9/11 for 10 months at Fort Hood), and currently a captain in the Indiana Guard Reserve. From 2010-2015, Catella was a Catholic priest in a Louisiana diocese as a parochial vicar in the area of Leesville, Louisiana. In the Army, Catella was part of the military police corps doing peace keeping in the 1990s after the Yugoslav civil wars, serving in Croatia.
When Catella introduced his candidacy in March, he stated he supports term limits, as do other IL-14 Republican candidates. Unlike his competitors, Catella supports a self-imposed term limit on himself if he is elected, and promises to serve no more than 4 terms, or 8 years, as a member of the United States House of Representatives.
The Catella for Congress Committee is based from the address at his St. Charles home, which reads from the slide:
