IL-06/IL-14: Congressman Sean Casten Takes the Stage to Rock Out as Republicans Work Hard to Finish 3rd Quarter Fundraising Strong

As the Republicans running for Congress strive to finish strong with 3rd quarter fundraising by the Monday night deadline, it’s a reminder of college. It’s been finals week for the congressional candidates in the 6th and 14th districts.

The clock will run out at 11:59PM Monday night on September 30th, and then we all will await the postings of the final grades when each candidate submits their Federal Election Commission (FEC) campaign fundraising reports, commonly known as Form 3s, or F3s, at which time they will be made public. The deadline for filing their report cards, I mean Form 3s is October 15th.

Highlighting the weekend in McHenry County is tonight’s big fundraiser in Crystal Lake for 14th district candidate James Marter.

Of all of the 14th district candidates and as has been written here and elsewhere, Marter is the Republican candidate who must exceed all expectations with his 3rd quarter FEC Form 3 filing. In order to hope to compete with established money raisers Jim Oberweis and Ted Gradel, and expected 6-digits money raisers in Sue Rezin and Catalina Lauf, it is imperative Marter has at least $100,000 in cash on hand by September 30th, and that much in contributions from donors.

In Marter’s case, if he doesn’t make the grade, he will most likely be reduced to a lower tier candidate and hope he can raise over $250,000 by the end of the year.

This past Wednesday afternoon, 14th district candidate Catalina Lauf sent this tweet.

Given it was just over 24 hours after House Speaker Pelosi announced the beginning of the formal impeachment inquiry of President Trump, she had a good motivation, given she worked in the Trump Administration.

14th distict candidate Sue Rezin held two fundraisers this past week. Friday morning, she posted the following on her campaign’s Facebook page, and a copy of the letter was received via blast marketing fundraising email distribution on Saturday:

While 14th district candidate Danny Malouf sent this Facebook postcard from Guanajuato City, Mexico late Friday night, and he says he was there on business and not for his campaign on issues like USMCA or immigration, the other 14th district candidates have been active, too.

Ted Gradel and Jim Oberweis were busy with appearances, as well as fundraising emails and phone calls. And Oberweis has his end-of-quarter fundraiser on Monday night, which we’ll feature more on Monday.

Turning to the 6th district, Dr. Jay Kinzler has chosen not to file paperwork with the FEC for the 3rd quarter, but Evelyn Sanguinetti and Jeanne Ives are working towards the Monday night deadline. As has been written up here on McHenry County Blog it is no secret Sanguinetti did push polling in advance of the final push for 3rd quarter fundraising.

While it is believed both Ives and Sanguinetti will turn in competitive FEC Form 3s next month, Ives also kicked off her congressional campaign’s “Friday Night Lights” weekly video podcast this past Friday, and it is below for your viewing pleasure. Since it’s a Facebook video, you will need to click the sound icon in the video to hear the audio of the nearly 2 1/2 minute video, and after Ives, the Congressman Sean Casten response from Saturday:

And finally, Congressman Casten took to the stage on Saturday night, as tweeted with a forwarded video from POLITICO‘s Shia Kapos and a tweet from Casten himself (right). As the song lyrics sung, all of the candidates hope to hear the same words from donors between now and Monday night, and especially the voters on March 17, and for the winners in March, on November 3 next year as votes are cast.

To see and hear the video of Congressman Casten playing keyboards and background singing at Ballydoyle Irish Pub & Restaurant in Downers Grove last night, click the twitter.com link in the Shia Kapos tweet below (and you may need to click the sound icon in the video page). Enjoy.

  1. Was Kenneally attending making the”Buffet” circuit with drink in one had and a plate full of hor devours in the other while shuffling around in his loafers?

  2. Stacker, you made me laugh so hard, I inhaled my Sunday coffee.

Haven’t laughed so hard all year.
