COMMENTARY: No matter how you cut it, McHenry County’s Catalina Lauf’s fundraising is impressive. In 38 days since the launch of her campaign on August 21 (FEC Statement of Candidacy filing), her campaign has raised over $100,000.
But more impressive, she chose to release her fundraising number, not the complete report, but the summary well-before the October 15 deadline for filing FEC Campaign Disclosure Reports.
And Catalina’s campaign draws a valid comparison to candidate Lauren Underwood’s fundraising noting Underwood’s first FEC report in 2017 showed only $75,380 in four months. Underwood herself revealed in her San Francisco interview she did not raise over $350,000 for her successful 7-way primary win in 2018.
Catalina Lauf appears to be nearly 1/3 of the way to Underwood’s primary fundraising, in just 38 days.
While numbers cannot placed on the “tote-board” because Catalina for Congress released a summary, we know the ball park figure for what she raised for Q319 and YTD Receipts.
We are curious to know cash-on-hand, which we will see by October 15, but for now, the tote-board stays empty:
The question to be put to all candidates is whether they will support the eventual winner of the primary…we need all the candidates to agree that Lauren Underwood is a disaster and does not represent the opinions of the vast majority of voters in the 14th District.
Pity the fool who contributes to this completely inexperienced arm candy candidate.

Heinrich, one must wonder if there were people saying the same thing about Lauren Underwood 2 years ago when she, at age 30 back then, decided to run for Congress.
You have a point John Lopez, but Underwood was a registered nurse whereas Catalina Fluff worked for Uber. Uber???
