of a three-vehicle crash on Route 173 at Keystone Road in unincorporated Richmond Township.

Keystone Road and Route 173

Preliminary investigation indicated that a 2007 Terex Crane, driven by a 37-year-old Hebron man, was traveling eastbound on Route 173 approaching Keystone Road.

A 2017 Nissan NV Cargo Van, driven by the 42-year-old man, was traveling northbound on Keystone Road approaching Route 173 and had a stop sign.

For unknown reasons, the Nissan failed to yield to traffic and pulled out onto Route 173.

The Terex Crane struck the Nissan causing both vehicles to move into the westbound lane of traffic on Route 173 where they struck a 2017 Jeep
Wrangler, driven by a 19-year-old Richmond woman, which was waiting to turn south onto Keystone Road.

The 28-year-old male passenger of the Nissan was extricated from the vehicle and flown by Flight for Life to Advocate Condell in Libertyville where he remains in serious condition.

The driver of the Nissan was pronounced deceased on scene.

The drivers of the Terex Crane and Jeep were not transported to the hospital.

Route 173 and Keystone Road was closed for approximately seven hours.
