Federal Suit Against DCFS Seeks Damages for AJ’s Siblings

The headline on the Chicago Tribune story about a Federal lawsuit against the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services can be seen below:

Lawsuit accuses child welfare workers of conducting ‘sham investigaitons” in months before 5-yer old AJ Freund was killed

In the crosshairs besides the agency at DCFS caseworker Carlos Acosta, who is identified as also being a McHenry County Board member, and his supersvisor, Andrew Polovin.

Any winners from the action will go to AJ’s siblings.

The article by Chrisie Gutowski is comprehensive.

  1. But both are long term highly paid & highly educated DCFS employees.
This lawsuit surely must be a hoax^

    Surely

  2. I have always believed any job like the DCFS is a patronage position and it needs a full investigation

  3. Carlos acosta should be removed from the Mchenry county Board immediately…and Hopefully justice will be served.

Nothing will bring back that sweet little boy that was let down by the lazy and heartless system!

  4. It’s about time.

    Bring on the Depositions!

Now, this allows for full discovery including the friends and contacts of Drew Freund.

    May justice be served!

  5. Perhaps the investigation should include if the McHenry County States Attorney’s Office was ever notified that there was child endangerment at this home and disregarded?

  6. There is a parallel worth noting between the Catholic Church and the (Democratic/Republican) political party system.

Catholic Church was forced to pay monetary damages for participating in cover-ups to protect “one-of-their-own”.

There may be a legal argument that the bad actors at DCFS are enjoying protective umbrellas from a political machine which uses strategies of cover-up in circumvention of Illinois law.

If so, and nobody can know until and unless discovery happens, the political party which has championed the career and fortunes of this particular alleged bad actor may bear some liability?

  7. There is a parallel worth noting between Acosta and Hannibal Lector.
