WARNING: Some of the language in this story is disturbing, but since it involves Lauren Underwood’s roommate in Washington and raises potential national security issues, the story is being reported.
Saturday night, former congressional candidate Matt Quigley tweeted about a story that has been made public during the weekend concerning Congresswoman Lauren Underwood’s (D, IL-14) DC roommate, Congresswoman Katie Hill (D, CA-25).
Hill’s estranged husband allegedly leaked pictures and texts of Hill being involved in a “throuple” with her husband and a female campaign staffer for around 2 years. Hill’s husband also revealed Hill had been having an extramarital affair with her finance director, a man.
Hill’s husband filed for divorce from her in California in July, around 2 months after Hill ended the “throuple” with her husband and the unidentified woman.
Hill, 32, is openly bisexual.
It appears Hill’s extramarital relationships did not take place in Washington and did not involve Underwood or their shared residence.
Hill, who is a member of the House Democratic Leadership team as one of the two freshman caucus co-chairs, could face discipline as her affairs broke House rules set down by House Speaker Pelosi, as both her finance director and the unnamed woman campaign staffer were on Hill’s payroll:
Additionally, Red State reported the following on national security risks:
“In addition to the legal and ethical issues raised by allegations of a congresswoman having not one, but two extramarital affairs with people on her staff, concurrently, there are issues of national security.
“Hill serves on two influential committees in that regard: Oversight and Reform and Armed Service. She has access to extremely sensitive national security information.
“If people who don’t have our nation’s best interests at heart had access to the photographs, text messages, and other information provided to RedState, Rep. Hill would be an easy blackmail target.”Red State
As of 11:45PM on Saturday, Hill’s office had not issued a statement.
May Underwood’s representation of the 14th district not be impaired by this scandal.
