Runaway cost of nearly free health insurance during and after employment.
Housing costs are correlated to the total annual tax obligations of that building.
In Illinois, high property taxes cause high costs of housing.
To “cure” this for the teachers, while burdening non-government workers with the ever-enlarging obligation to pay for it, makes those causing the problem even more oblivious of the problem.
Until and unless defined benefit pension plans, and inordinately high priced (free to teachers) health insurance at age 55 “retirement” are discussed, the narrative will be spun as “hating well-paid teachers”.
