Congresswoman Katie Hill to Resign from Congress by Friday
As a result of events documented a week and half ago, Congresswoman Katie Hill (D, CA-25) has announced she will resign from Congress.
According to POLITICO who first broke the resignation story early Sunday evening, the resignation is going to be effective by Friday, November 1st.
Hill tweeted her announcement early Sunday night, along with a copy of her letter with the intention to resign:
A few minutes later, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) chairman issued the following statement:
Hill was facing a House Ethics Committee inquiry due to allegations of inappropriate relationships with 2 staffers. She admitted to one, but denied the other.
Hill did the honorable thing with her decision to resign.
After Hill’s resignation is in effect, there will be a total of 4 vacancies in the U.S. House, and the parties are:
- 233 Democrats
- 197 Republicans
- 1 Independent

Mr. Heinrich, that California congresswoman’s sad tale on a number of fronts was newsworthy to McHenry County because that same California congresswoman is the DC roommate of the congresswoman who represents most of McHenry County in Congress.
If the President, Congressman Hunter or anyone else roomed with Congresswoman Underwood, or Congressman Casten, maybe that will promulgate a story here.
But the soon-to-be-vacant CA-25 congressional seat, and the special election to fill it, will be watched across the country.
While the other vacancies are in safe districts, 1 Democrat and 2 Republicans, the CA-25 seat was flipped last year, so the messaging to flip the seat from the NRCC and the Democrats to keep it, will have impacts to both the 6th and 14th districts, too.
Use the analogy of the Spanish Civil War and World War II, but without the loss of life.

More recently in early 2019, we find that two women accused the Democrat VA Lt Governor of rape. Democrat politicians called for his resignation.
This is just an effort to smear using guilt by association.
Pretending it has anything to do with the 14th is nonsense.
But, because of the abject hatred of any elected official who has a “D” next to their name by the publishers of this blog, this non-story is published with the rationalization that it could impact the 14th District.
It simply shows the bias of the writers and decreases their credibility even more.
If Underwood had done something – sure, that is worth writing about – but her roommate?
