State Rep. Dan Ugaste Draws Gun Opponent Martha Paschke as Democratic Party Opponent

Australian native Martha Paschke of Geneva seeks to oust freshman Republican State Rep. Dan Ugaste.

The main part of the district in McHenry County is Sun City.

The teacher announced her candidacy for the 65th House District late last week.

An August article about a gun control town hall meeting in Aurora in the Aurora Beacon-News contained this information about Paschke:

Martha Paschke has three children in the Geneva schools. “It scares me,” she said of the gun violence across the nation.

Paschke was in high school in Australia when there was a mass shooting in 1996 when 35 people were killed and 23 wounded in Port Arthur, Tasmania.

Sweeping gun control measures were taken, she said.

“Australia had an immediate response. My kids have to live in constant fear of it happening,” she said.

Paschke is a member of the Kane and Kendall counties chapter of Moms Demand Action. “We need to put pressure on the Senate to call the votes up,” the Geneva mother said.

Here is what she had to say to The Guardian about her motivation for volunteeriGun Opponent ng for Hillary Clinton in 2016:

[Loren] Underwood’s campaign has certainly tapped into voter energy fueled by opposition to Trump. Martha Paschke, a 39-year-old volunteer helping female activists reach out to female voters, cited “the political atmosphere after the 2016 election” as a reason for her involvement. Although she had volunteered in passing before, she said, her desire was charged by a sense of guilt that she did not do enough for Clinton.

“Now we are looking at this midterm and have a sense of guilt that maybe if we’d helped Hillary’s campaign, maybe we would have reached that one extra voter, maybe we could have made enough of a difference that we wouldn’t be living in times that often feel cataclysmic,” she said.

In other information found on thme internet, Martha and Jeremy Paschke contributed $100-$249 to the Geneva Public Library District.

She is a “doula,” defined as “a  person who provides emotional and physical support to you during your pregnancy and childbirth.” Her calendar is clear for this activity.

The couple have three children: Hannah, Eli, and Evie.

In 2012, she considered herself on “the good, the decent, the honest side of history.

The family moved to Geneva in 2002.

  1. “The main part of the district in McHenry County is Sun City.”

I guess I had better look at the map again, I thought the dividing line in Huntley between the 65th & 66th IL House districts was the county line, though wouldn’t be surprised the Democratic mapmakers wanted all of Sun City in the same House district. I just don’t remember Sun City crossing the county line, though.

No matter. Not surprised Ugaste picked up a Democratic opponent, and I’m sure a Democrat challenger will appear for the 66th district, too. Haven’t heard of anyone, but sure Indivisible will tweet out a name, soon.

That was how I first heard about Paschke.

  2. “There’s an old Australian Soccer Mom lying…
and she turns to her mates gathered around and she says

    Tie me Kangaroo down sport
    Tie me Kangaroo down…..”

  3. “Now we are looking at this midterm and have a sense of guilt that maybe if we’d helped Hillary’s campaign, maybe we would have reached that one extra voter, maybe we could have made enough of a difference that we wouldn’t be living in times that often feel cataclysmic.”

Cataclysmic? What a goofball is Martha.

  4. Just what we need in Springfield, another gun grabber.

It’s not enough that they want our fingerprints

  5. She wears an adult diaper, but it’s not because she has a physical impairment or intestinal disease.

  6. Sunshine blogger, we know that, when it comes to journalism, you are the real deal. I accept no cheap imitations. It is time to start reporting on political yard signs and the dirty tricks Democrats play to damage and destroy those patriotic blue republikkklan signs designed to trick Democrats to support republikkklans. Any updates on yard signs from the 80’s stored in some obscure and cold warehouse in McHenry County? I can’t wait to read about those. Stay tuned…tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, the second amendment cat lives on…meeeeeeeeoooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwww…

  7. They don’t even let you get a gun in Australia for self-defense.

  8. A dingo kidnapped her from a tent in Australia’s Northgern Terr., and raised her to be a vicious, anti-human bitc_.

  9. Wow. The visceral hate in some of these comments makes my stomach turn.

Demonizing one side or the other is unproductive and divisive.

Other comments are disjointed and nonsensical.

If you have a point then it’s best to be coherent and respectful.

  10. Yes, she says killing is o.k.

maybe this virus will help her get elected.

    Kill all those old conservatives.

  11. Creepy to think if Martha is elected Mike Madigan will have his mark on the Fox Valley.

Maratha is too much of a simpleton and void of ethics to accept financial support from Mike Madigan.

Keep Chicago Ways out of our district.
