Official Who Opposed Jack Franks Suffers Ambiguous Attacks a’la Illinois Integrity Fund
Friday 11/15/19 and today, Friday 11/22/19 a friend of McHenry County Blog living in the Wonder Lake portion of District 6 received robo calls critical of James (Jim) Kearns District 6 Board Member. One can only conclude these attack calls are the brainchild of McHenry County Board Chairman Jack Franks who Kearns was critical of during Franks’ attempted takeover and dissolvement of the County Auditor.
Last Friday’s call came from “wireless caller 815-245-3174”
Another hardy congratulations to County Board Member Jim Kearns for being the only Republican with the guts to vote against the property tax rebate. Jim knows government needs more money and to expand services. On Thursday Jim came out against allowing citizens to vote on a referendum that eliminated a government office. Jim has the courage to deny citizens their vote because he knows they need bigger government and higher taxes. Congrats Jim. Finally a Republican who isn’t afraid to increase taxes and expand government. Paid for by McHenry County Republicans.
Today’s call comes from “wireless caller 815-245-4283” and was read at a speedy rate, some words were hard to understand.
County Board Member Jim Kearns in under investigation by the County Ethics Board for serious violations of our laws regarding disclosure of property owned in the county to ensure that there are no conflicts of interests or self-dealing by elected officials. It is alleged that Jim Kearns failed to even file the required document though legally obligated to do so. In addition Jim Kearns is being investigated for improperly filing a statement of economic interest where he failed to disclose his business interests and source of income. If these allegations are proven Kearns could be fined thousands of dollars. He could even be convicted up one year in jail. McHenry County [inaudible] lawmakers follow the law and are transparent in their land and business interests. If Kearns didn’t follow the law he should resign now. Paid for by Republicans for Ethical Government.
In 2017 the Edgar County Watchdogs exposed Jack Franks’ multiple statement of economic interest filing violations, but Franks was never brought in front of the McHenry County Ethics Commission and the Northwest Herald did not report on the infractions.
