Joe Tirio Bemoans Low Number of Candidates Filing

A press release from McHenry County Clerk Joe Tirio:

First day of candidate filing opens with a whimper

When the front doors to the administration building swung open at 7:30 am, there was just one person waiting to file. As the eight O’clock “rush” came and went, a scant 20 candidates had filed their papers to run for office. A glance at the live feed from the State Board of Elections would tell a similar story, candidate turnout appears low… so far.

“There’s still time to file of course, but it is unusual to have the first day be this light”, said Joe Tirio, McHenry County Clerk and Recorder.

When asked why he thought so few candidates filed, Joe said, “There are strategic reasons to file later, of course.

“Lately, it’s seemed harder to get people involved in local government.

“Many don’t want to subject themselves to the scrutiny and the attacks that have become part of the political climate in our community.

“More than ever, we need good people to run for office.”

The Clerk’s Office will be open accepting candidate filings 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week. The office will be closed Thursday and Friday (the 28th and 29th) in observance of Thanksgiving. The office will be accepting filings again on Monday, December 2nd from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM when the period for filing ends.

  1. Mr. Tirio is an honest and hardworking man and in my opinion the Casino is rigged in the County Government offices, the McHenry County Circuit Court and a couple of municipal governments located in McHenry County.

Even more surprising is the Department of Justice hasn’t been looking into them for government corruption.

  2. People vote with their feet: OUT OF ILLINOIS, a third world sanctuary jungle with bigger welfare grab bags for our parasite class we are feeding with our blood.
