Catalina Lauf, Ted Gradel, James Marter & Jim Oberweis have signed ATR pledge
Four candidates have signed the “No New Taxes Pledge” of Americans for Tax Reform (ATR) in recent months.
On Saturday, McHenry County Blog published an article citing 14th congressional district candidate Ted Gradel as the only candidate to sign ATR’s pledge in mid October.
And while researching the the article for Saturday, I could not find information for other 14th district candidates signing the ATR pledge.
A gentleman commented on Saturday’s article with a URL which allowed search of the ATR pledge signing database, and Catalina Lauf, James Marter and Jim Oberweis were included with Gradel.
Whatever technical issues at ATR’s end that prevented me from obtaining the complete information has been resolved, and Jim Oberweis’ campaign acknowledged the issue from ATR’s end in a campaign Facebook post earlier this week.
And McHenry County Blog regrets the unintentional misinformation initially published in Saturday’s article.
Somehow, I think the published article on Saturday aided in the discovery and resolution of the technical issues so there was some good.
Yesterday, ATR posted the following update on their website concerning the 14th district Republican primary:
The verbiage of the pledge for federal officeholders is below:
“I, ________________ pledge to the taxpayers of the state of Illinois, and to the American people that I will:
“ONE, oppose any and all efforts to increase the marginal income tax rates for individuals and/or businesses;
“and TWO, oppose any net reduction or elimination of deductions and credits, unless matched dollar for dollar by further reducing tax rates.”Source: ATR website
