IL-14: Four Candidates Sign “No New Taxes Pledge” of Americans for Tax Reform

Catalina Lauf, Ted Gradel, James Marter & Jim Oberweis have signed ATR pledge

Four candidates have signed the “No New Taxes Pledge” of Americans for Tax Reform (ATR) in recent months.

On Saturday, McHenry County Blog published an article citing 14th congressional district candidate Ted Gradel as the only candidate to sign ATR’s pledge in mid October.

And while researching the the article for Saturday, I could not find information for other 14th district candidates signing the ATR pledge.

A gentleman commented on Saturday’s article with a URL which allowed search of the ATR pledge signing database, and Catalina Lauf, James Marter and Jim Oberweis were included with Gradel.

Whatever technical issues at ATR’s end that prevented me from obtaining the complete information has been resolved, and Jim Oberweis’ campaign acknowledged the issue from ATR’s end in a campaign Facebook post earlier this week.

And McHenry County Blog regrets the unintentional misinformation initially published in Saturday’s article.

Somehow, I think the published article on Saturday aided in the discovery and resolution of the technical issues so there was some good.

Yesterday, ATR posted the following update on their website concerning the 14th district Republican primary:

The verbiage of the pledge for federal officeholders is below:

“I, ________________ pledge to the taxpayers of the state of Illinois, and to the American people that I will:

“ONE, oppose any and all efforts to increase the marginal income tax rates for individuals and/or businesses;

“and TWO, oppose any net reduction or elimination of deductions and credits, unless matched dollar for dollar by further reducing tax rates.”

  1. Oberweis can’t be trusted.

He says he won’t support new taxes but then will do so by just voting “present.”

Or Sue Rezin… who lied to her voters and did a commercial saying she won’t support new taxes in Illinois, then votes YES for the corrupt gas tax now under investigation.

BTW that gas tax bill was crafted by indicted democrat Marty Sandoval, Oberweis’ friend.

Oberweis even congratulated Sandoval on his hard work putting that pos gas tax bill together.

Oberweis and Rezin are the same breed of corrupt RINO family.

Neither deserves to be in Congress.

  2. Nice post.

Two down, 5 to go, & 2 to go from the signers of ATR pledge.

  3. This is one of the most courageous things a republikkklan politician could possibly do…stay tuned…333 days…tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, tic, tock, meeeeeeeeoooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwww…

  4. Hold on a minute…

Sue Rezin has NOT signed the ATR pledge.

Sorry I didn’t catch that error in my earlier post.

We know whom Ms. Prestia is supporting of the 4 who signed the ATR pledge.

It’s Gradel and Lauf that she did not comment on with the post.

Rezin is not in the picture concerning this pledge.

  5. Republicans solution is to just keep raising the national debt and increasing the budget deficit!

  6. Linda Prestia is a well known witch ….and not the good kind.
