IL House 66th District: Carolyn Schofield Fundraiser in Algonquin

New Endorsements Emerge from December 2nd Event

McHenry County Board Member Carolyn Schofield’s campaign for the Republican nomination for state representative held its December 2nd fundraiser at Biaggi’s Italian Restaurant at Algonquin Commons, just across the county line.

Schofield’s campaign Facebook page includes video and pics from the event.

In a post event video thanking specific supporters, three additional names emerged:

  • McHenry County Board Member & former State Senator Pam Althoff
  • Former Kane County Board Member Maggie Auger
  • Former Dundee Township Republican Chairman Ray Auger

Combined with the previously known endorsements of State Senator Don DeWitte and County Board Vice chairman Mike Skala, a nucleus of public officials expressed support for the replacement of incumbent State Representative Allen Skillicorn.

Additionally, Algonquin Village President John Schmitt attended the Schofield fundraiser. One of the pics on Schofield’s Facebook page shows him speaking at the event, so appears he was not simply a mere attendee.

14th Congressional District Primary Politics Looms Over 66th Race

As previously documented about the Republican primary for Kane County board chairman, the 14th congressional district Republican primary looms over the 66th district primary race, too.

Incumbent State Representative Allen Skillicorn, who lives in the 8th congressional district, is openly backing Jim Oberweis’ candidacy for Congress. Skillicorn’s support was featured in Oberweis’ 12-page mailer sent to 14th district voters back in October.

Schofield, who is also the Republican precinct committeeperson for Grafton Precinct 8, lives in the 14th district.

Given Schofield’s campaign is supported by State Senator Don DeWitte and County Board Member (and former State Senator) Pam Althoff, and both are backing Sue Rezin’s congressional candidacy openly, Schofield’s position on the congressional primary might be inferred.

Publicly, Schofield is at this point, neutral in the congressional primary.
