Lobbying of Underwood in Full Swing as Judiciary Committee sends Articles of Impeachment to full House
As the Daily Herald documented late yesterday, Congresswoman Lauren Underwood is still undecided on how she’ll vote on the 2 Articles of Impeachment against President Trump next week.
The House Judiciary Committee formally approved the Articles of Impeachment this morning on a party-line vote.
The lobbying for Underwood’s vote is fierce, with all of the leftist/socialist supporters urging a “yes” vote in social media.

What’s the argument against impeachment? There’s overwhelming evidence that Trump pressured Ukraine to publicly announce that they were opening an investigation into his #1 political rival, Joe Biden, in an attempt to have a president Ukraine influence a United States election. And it’s not even in dispute that he’s obstructing Congress by refusing to comply with any subpoenas for documents (Clinton literately complied and gave blood) and ordering witnesses to defy Congressional subpoenas and blocking them from testifying.
After hearing all of the sworn testimony from the impeachment hearings, does anyone still really believe he and Rudy didn’t try to pressure Ukraine to announce an investigation into Joe Biden? Or do people know he tried to do that but since he failed and the money was released (ONLY after Congress opened an investigation)… then no harm no foul no impachment.
Any responses about hearsay fail because (1) we heard direct evidence of Trump’s statements from witnesses and (2) Mick gave a press conference confirming the quid pro quo. Mick famously said, “yes it was a quid pro quo and if you don’t like it then get over it” Trump’s team thought that quote was so great that it STILL sells and raises money by selling shirts with “GET OVER IT” from their website (https://shop.donaldjtrump.com/products/get-over-it-tee-navy) and (3) Trump is blocking people who would ALSO have 1st knowledge from testifying (John Bolton, Mick Mulvaney, Rick Perry, just to name a few).
As Lindsey Graham said in the Clinton impeachment trial, “Article III of impeachment against Richard Nixon, the article was based on the idea that Richard Nixon, as president, failed to comply with subpoenas of Congress” as it was “going through its oversight function,” Graham said back in 1998. “The day Richard Nixon failed to answer that subpoena is the day he was subject to impeachment because he took the power from Congress over the impeachment process away from Congress, and he became the judge and jury.”

The argument against impeachment, unlike the “overwhelming evidence” Oh cited, is incontrovertible.
All you have is circumstantial evidence, not conclusive evidence. The phone call was legal, and there was no pressure at all. The obstruction of Congress is a, pardon the pun, trumped-up charge because there should have been no impeachment inquiry in the first place, and at the very least, a House vote should have formally initiated the inquiry back in late September when Speaker Pelosi announced it.
The Senate trial will bear that out, that is why it will be a very short trial, probably a week to two weeks, tops. If the Constitution didn’t require him to have the trial, he would do with the Articles of Impeachment vote the same way he treats the House’s partisan legislation, because the impeachment support is purely partisan. There will be no Republicans voting for it, and there will be Democrats voting against it. Underwood, if she really wants to hold on to her seat, needs to be one of them.
Mainstream voters in McHenry County and across the country do not support impeachment and removal of the President.
Remember the number “67”, since that is how many votes needed to remove a President at the Senate trial, and it won’t be that close.

Hate to break this to you but circumstantial evidence is used in criminal courts across our country every single day to convict defendants beyond a reasonable doubt.
Would you like to hear from Mick Mulvaney and John Bolton? If you were interested in getting to the truth of the matter you 100% would want to hear from them. If they can exonerate Trump and testify this never happened, why is Trump blocking them? Please answer that question.

You will not convince 67 senators on the flimsy circumstantial evidence the Democrats are using to try to overturn the 2016 election. It’s just not there, and last I checked, the burden of proof is on the accusers, and not the accused, and the accusers haven’t proved their case. Period.
As I said, it will be a short trial, President Trump will remain President and win a 2nd term, and the Democrats will be shown for the charlatans that they are putting our country through this mess for 3 years.
And wasn’t the Mueller report supposed to be what got Trump? I’m sure there are some trying to keep that as the “next” impeachment inquiry, which will make it more imperative to flip the House in 2020 elections, so this nonsense goes away permanently.

I don’t care about the number 67. They will vote to protect Trump and the GOP. I’m trying to engage Trump defenders on the merits of the charges, not the politics of how or why GOP senators will vote a certain way.
So you really don’t believe he tried to pressure Ukraine? Ok, that’s your answer. That’s what I wanted to hear. I followed the hearings as much as I could and I can’t see how anyone walked away from those hearing thinking Trump didn’t withhold aid to pressure Ukraine into announcing a public investigation into his #1 political rival to influence the 2020 election. Serious questions: Do you want to hear from Mick or Bolton? Seems like they could clear a lot of this up but for some reason they aren’t doing that.
And yes, generally and 100% in this case, the burden is on the accuser. However, I can think of no example whee an accused can actually block other people who hold evidence that would either help to exonerate or convict the accused from cooperating in an investigation or testifying at a trial. That does not exist. And with everything we already heard at the hearings PLUS the fact that Trump is blocking more people from coming forward, it’s more than overwhelming evidence.
McConnell previously threatened to make this a long drawn out trial so the public would turn on the Dems for bringing the charges. He will make it quick because he doesn’t want a long trial where we hear from Mick or Bolton. Their testimony won’t be helpful for Trump. That is why Trump is blocking them.
Joe Biden did a quid pro quo with Ukraine and was never held accountable. Joe held up millions in aid to Ukraine UNTIL they agreed to fire the investigator looking into corruption at a gas company of which his son was on the Board. Joe is NOT immune from investigation of his quid pro quo and the related issue of Joe getting a job for his son, without any qualifications, to be on the gas company Board. Joe is a dumb guy. So dumb that he bragged about the quid pro quo in front of live tv and was videotaped.
No American citizen is immune from investigation and possible prosecution just because they announce they are running for public office. Joe is but one of many Democrat candidates running for president and it will not be known until after the 2020 primaries and the Democrat Convention as to who the Democrat party chooses to be its candidate in the November 2020 election. Besides not knowing which Democrat will win the primaries, there is still the possibility that Joe might drop out to spend more time with his family or to address his possible dementia health issues.
It is very possible that Democrat primary voters will find out about the many faults of Joe and will vote for other Democrats. Faults such as: plagiarism, stupidity in foreign affairs such as NOT supporting the first Gulf War, promoting the US involvement in a war in Libya which got rid of Kadafi and brought in ISIS, Joe being obnoxious over the years by kissing or hugging women and violating their space, smelling the hair of a woman political candidate in NV, etc People should also remember that Joe ran in the Iowa caucus of January 2008 and received less than one percent of the votes and then promptly dropped out.

Biden acted in the best interest of the US government. It was the unanimous view of our State, Intelligence, all bracches of government that the prosecutor was not doing anything to root out corruption. It was the view of all of our allies and the World Bank.
Trump used the power of the presidency put his own political interest ahead of the national security interest of the US government. The testimony was that Trump’s withholding came with no explanation, made no sense, and harmed the United States National Security interests. And everyone knew about the pressure scheme.
