Local Legislators Criticize Taxpayer Gifts of $50 to Each Newborn for College Fund

WTTW reports on a new giveaway conceived by Democrats.

$50 will be give to each infant born in Illinois as a start toward financing a college education.

The article includes the following comments about the $10 million a year program from Jim Oberweis and David McSweeney:

“It’s a wonderful idea except where does the money come from? Our state is in deep fiscal stress and for us to say ‘it’s only another $10 million a year,’ that’s just fundamentally wrong,” said state Sen. Jim Oberweis, R-Sugar Grove.

Another Republican who voted against the measure (House Bill 2237), Rep. David McSweeney of Barrington Hills, said at the very least there should be a means test.

“Why should a billionaire’s or millionaire’s son or daughter get $50 from the state when the state’s insolvent? It doesn’t make any sense,” he said.

McSweeney also said he worries the program will ramp up.

  1. Do they give it back when they don’t go to college, with interest?

  2. What if baby’s parent(s) are illegally here in the first place sucking up welfare, or like so many Chinese invaders coming to Chicago’s O’hare and staying in Park Ridge until they shortly give birth at Lutheran General Hosp.

More than half the babies born at Lutheran General in 2018 and this year are these damnable birth-tourists!

  3. Make Whites pay for their own dispossession.

    A great idea.

Are normal people ever going to wake up?

Or do they just get picked off one-by-one?

An opioid overdose here; a vicious rape-murder perpetrated by a section eight baboon there.

A WM teen suicide here; an family wiped out by an illegal alien driving drunk?

    When will it stop?
