Chuck Wheeler Seeks Second Amendment Sanctuary Status for McHenry County

From McHenry County Board member Chuck Wheeler:

Board Member Chuck Wheeler seeks to give residents voice in protecting McHenry County gun rights

With Democrats controlling the Legislative, Judicial and Executive branches in Springfield, lawful gun owners in McHenry County are taking aim at the serious threat this poses to their Second Amendment Rights.

Henry County Board Member and McHenry County GOP Vice Chair Chuck Wheeler (R-4th District), along with the Illinois Rifle Association, and the USCCA (United States Concealed Carry Association), want McHenry residents to have a chance to decide for themselves whether to protect the Second Amendment in the county.

“I and other Board Members tried to bring this question up for a vote before the McHenry County Board, but Board Chairman Jack Franks refused to put it on the agenda,” said Wheeler. “He didn’t want it to pass so he decided to abuse his position and deny board and McHenry county residents the right to vote on the issue.”

In response to Frank’s heavy-handed approach, Wheeler and other supporters are distributing petitions to add the question to the Nov. 3, 2020, General Election Ballot. The Ballot question would ask voters to decide …

Shall McHenry County stand as a Pro-Second Amendment County that protects lawful gun owners from unconstitutional laws passed by the Illinois General Assembly?

“We have a climate in the country today among those on the Left where they are openly admitting they want to take guns away from law-abiding citizens – even to go into citizens’ homes to take their guns,” said Wheeler citing comments by Democrat presidential candidates, including Beto O’Rourke who said “Hell, yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47” if he’s elected president. Mr. Biden has called for a national gun registry and that’s the first step in gun confiscation.  According to Wheeler, “That’s the camel’s nose in the tent.”

He indicated that attitude isn’t limited to those on the national stage. Democrats here in Illinois have spoken openly with the same anti-Second Amendment attitude. One example is State Senator Julie Morrison (D-29th District) who stated, in reference to firearms, “Maybe we’ll just confiscate them.”

As it is early in the process, currently Wheeler and other supporters of the measure are looking for Second Amendment proponents who are willing to seek signatures on the petitions. (Petitions may be downloaded from the wevsite below.)

  1. A referendum that will do absolutely nothing.

This blatant fear-mongering is, quite frankly, insulting.

Spend time and resources to help our county instead of pandering for political purposes.

  2. The 2A is an individual liberty afforded to all U.S. citizens, Mr. Wheeler. It is not vested in someone just because they reside in any particular county. No need to waste your time on a useless referendum, you have more pressing matters with which to concern yourself.

  3. Thank you… C.W.

Now would like to see you set up a law that protects outter burbs of the Sanctuary City that none of us Voted for or Want ! and its effecting us the otter burbs ! negatively with these S.C. Illegal doc if you want to be a S.City then keep your illegal docs in your City not ours… May be you can afford them but we cannot !

  4. Will he get off his butt and actually get it on the ballot? Or just talk about doing so?

  5. I’ll believe it when I see it, Wheeler-dealer.

Why don’t the pseudo Republicans jus stay away from County Board meetings monkey Franks stages?

    They cry about Franks constantly.

But w/o a quorum Franks can’t get anything enacted!

But they want their meal worms (per deim expenses)

  6. Why don’t these GOP or supposedly GOP county board do-nothings ever call out Franks for what he is!?

  7. Don’t expect fatcat politicos to save you.

Mr. Smith & Mr. Wesson can, however.

  8. UnderwoodNow,

Stop agreeing with genocide and oppression, as gun control never leads to your false utopia.

Just ask the Venezuelans (gun ban enacted in 2012), the Cambodians in 1975, the Russians in 1918, political opponents to the Nazis in the late 30’s, red China under Mao, African Americans immediately after the civil war (and up until the 60’s in the south)……

ILGA members have already threatened confiscation

With confiscation comes forced confrontations, which could lead to death (and most certainly imprisonment).

You wouldn’t want all your (now legal) gun owning neighbors being at risk for possibly being killed over AR15 ownership and their children possibly caught in crossfire during a no-knock raid over not paying a $25 fee and registration, would you?

OR some “contraband” (especially when someone insidiously calls in a false tip and over excited dirty cops that get to play Rambo).

Then again, less conservative gun owners/non-party line Democrats to worry about, right?

Less Underwood opponents is a good thing in your mind I bet (even if it means they’re murdered or imprisoned over owning metal and polymer).

Have a blessed day (or if you’re an atheist, good day).
