Underwood’s Reply to Person Urging Impeachment

From Congresswoman Lauren Underwood to a constuent asking her to votre for Donal Trump’s impeachment. [Thanks to the Friend of McHenry County Blog]:

Thank you for your message regarding the impeachment of President Trump.

I appreciate your taking the time to share your thoughts on this sobering issue.

After a thorough and deliberate inquiry, conducted through the coordination of multiple House committees, the Committee on the Judiciary drafted two Articles of Impeachment—

(1) for Abuse of Power regarding the President’s solicitation of foreign interference in the 2020 election; and

(2) for Obstruction of Congress as it carried out its constitutionally-prescribed oversight duties.

Our country’s founders created impeachment so that no president could place themselves above the law, a crucial constitutional check of power that ensures our country’s security and values are protected against corruption and foreign influence in our elections.

As I weighed this solemn decision, I listened to our community, examined important testimony and evidence, and studied the drafted articles.

The President demonstrated a pattern of corrupt behavior and abused his power for his own personal political gain when he pressured foreign leaders to conduct investigations against political rivals, jeopardizing our country’s national security and the integrity of our elections.

Furthermore, the Trump Administration engaged in unprecedented levels of obstruction, concealing information from the American public that it has a right to know.

The testimony and evidence put forth led me to a clear conclusion.

In order to uphold my sworn oath, I voted to protect the Constitution and in support of both Articles of Impeachment.

The day following the impeachment vote, the House immediately got back to work to pass H.R. 5430, the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) Implementation Act.

The House also passed H.R. 5377, the Restoring Tax Fairness for States and Localities Act, a bipartisan bill I was proud to help introduce, which will end the burden on middle class families caused by the Republican tax law’s cap on the state and local tax (SALT) deduction.Thank you again for your message.

I value hearing from you on these important issues that impact our community.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any further thoughts or concerns. Sincerely,Lauren Underwood

  1. Really?

“In order to uphold my sworn oath, I voted to protect the Constitution and in support of both Articles of Impeachment”

Why is Underwood coddling people that have come into the United States by illegal means?

    Typical liberal two faced speak

  2. The response from Underwood came after the USMCA and SALT deduction cap temporary repeal votes, which were completed by mid to late afternoon Chicago time.

The response reads like the press release of her announcement to support Impeachment she released Tuesday.

  3. Of the same ilk that wont acknowledge; hiring is up, wages are better, people feel more financially secure than ever, 401ks are sky rocketing.

The debate candidates and Pelosi bunch seem to paint a picture of America that is bad, we’re all falling behind, things are terrible, and the only solutions they offer have to do with raising personal income taxes on EVERYONE–to support Free Stuff, more illegals getting Free Stuff and no automobiles.

I dont want free stuff, illegals getting free stuff and freedom in being able to drive anywhere I want when I want. I want liberty, free markets, free trade, our Constitution and Amendments.

Trump is the better option for those pursuits, than you and your ilk Underwood.

I’ll take the *impeached* guy thank you.

You represent Free stuff and High Taxes with limited personal freedoms.

You never asked me or anyone I know of what we think about any of this, so save the “representing constituents” nonsense.

  4. Because if you say it enough eventually it becomes true.

Very Machiavellian of this Marxist to make reference to the constitution.

The reality is she wouldn’t know the Constitution if it hit her in the forehead.

Not an indictment on her but those her voted for her.

  5. Underwood should change her name to Undertaker.

She’s carting off the corpse of a dead state.
