Here’s a new law that makes me wonder who would be making school board selections, if Jack Franks is successful of getting rid of the third female elected official he has targeted for appointment:
FILLING SCHOOL BOARD VACANCIES
Public Act 101-67, House Bill 2802
School districts who are having difficulty finding replacement school board members will have more time to fill a vacancy when it occurs. The new law applies to Boards of Education in school districts that have populations between 1,000 and 500,000 inhabitants. When a vacancy occurs, members of the board will have 60 (rather than 45) days to fill the vacancy. After 60 days, the regional superintendent will be required to fill the vacancy.
What you people probably need now is a Thooper Dooper Sooper at $500 K and Asst. Dooper Sooper at $300 K.
Yea that’s it, that’ll do er.
This is how the referendum reads according to the clerk’s site:
“Should the McHenry County Board pursue a new structure of the office of McHenry County Regional uperintendent of Schools, or enter into an agreement with another Regional Office of Education to share it’s services?”
The wording raises many questions.
I know of no useful function performed by the independent office of McHenry County Superintendent of Regional Education in the pasr 12 years.
New buildings proooses were rubberstamped and now our property tax rate for schools alone exceeds DOUBLE the entire tax rate of Chicago property.
When I called request her offfice to intervene in a legal dispute over taxation, funds accounting and OMA violations, she replied she would not get involved despite statutory requirements that she must get involved. (Resulting in avoidable tax objection lawsuit; lawyers for school district paid tens or hundreds of thousands of taxpayer money).
The automated functions performed by her office could be managed by same software programs used by ISBE or any other agency tasked with licensing and continuing education credits requirements.
The McHenry County Coroner and McHenry County Regional Superintendent are the least of the taxpayers worries.
In my opinion, the real concerns are the McHenry County Board, McHenry County States Attorney’s Office and several townships and municipalities.
These should all be investigated going through each with a fine tooth comb by the Department of Justice!
Why can’t we just abolish the SRE office all together?
Oh, that’s right, patronage jobs the ‘county board’ can control.

Townships are the worst, followed by school boards and districts.
County Board are do-nothings.
Schermerhorn is another parasite.
She wouldn’t even be there if her Daddy wasn’t a crooked Al Jordan appointed judge.
Her father wasn’t exactly popular with the general public.
The fact that Judge Schermerhorn was an Al Jordan appointed Judge, means he should have never been allowed to serve the public, as every single transaction is questionable.

What has Ms. Schermerhorn actually done?
She sounds like a Hunter Biden type, profiting from being the child of one of the ‘elite’.

I get how she’s loyal to her Dad’s memory, but her Dad tried to stick it to the good judges who fought McHenry County corruption.

Clearly, Leslie Schermerhorn was protected from what went on behind the scenes.
No one could ever forget what happened with McConnells either.
Just because Schermerhorn is dead, doesn’t mean he is innocent.
More specifically, I witnessed Schermerhorn return a child to an abusive parent after a court order was in place for supervised visits.
In my opinion, Schermerhorn over stepped his authority as a Judge.
Schermerhorn protected his little girl, no doubt.
Now lets see, I can remember an offer that was made to pay off a McHenry County Judge.

What would a “new structure” look like?
If they’re appointed, you wouldn’t really have a say.
Who will do the appointing?
If you join some other county or counties, then you’re diluting your vote.
Which other government would we make an agreement with?

Lake County?
What happens if they tell us no?
I think Susan brings up some good points in favor of getting rid of this, but does Susan know what it will be replaced with?
Susan says it would be nice if we could use computers and data and logic and…. is that what they’re going to do though?
Are our politicians results oriented, data oriented, etc?
Or do they use every trick in the book to expand their power?
Do they even know what they want to do?
Or is this just another example of Jack Franks winging it?
Maybe Leslie shouldn’t be the person in charge (I don’t really know), but if we’re going to make a big structural change you should at least understand how it works and be able to say why it’s good.
An argument against a specific elected official isn’t necessarily an argument to get rid of elections entirely.
Personally I have no idea why this office exists in the first place.
If it provides no value, we should consider abolishing it entirely instead of consolidating useless units or moving to an appointed useless position.
What does this office do?
Maybe we should start there since I guarantee 99 percent of voters have no idea.
Boone County is in an Educational Service Region that contains Winnebago County.
On Regional Supt. of School is elected by voters in both of those counties.
Apparently, Jack Franks was up to no good again. He was calling the District Superintendents and acting as though they were his employees.
Some how this would allow Franks to use the School Districts as props for his campaign and because Leslie oversees them Leslie said no this would not be allowed.
If the District Superintendents don’t have Leslie the District Superintendents could be bullied into submission by Jack Franks.
So as long as Leslie is willing to fight for the rights of the people and keep Jack Franks from taking over, those are viable reasons to keep her in place.
As long as she fights to protect the people and our Schools.

Why don’t we look at consolidating school districts in McHenry County?
Why do towns such as the size of McHenry and Crystal Lake have elementary AND high school districts which result in duplicate costs of buildings, and building expenses, school board expenses, personnel (i.e., Facilities Mgt., IT Mgt.,Superintendents, HR, Training, secretaries, etc.) when a district as large as Rockford only had one school district?
Lao, think of the cost of printing separate logos or the separate districts in the same town -/ letter head, business cards, signs, decals, etc.
It all adds up.
Why isn’t anyone trying to stop the wastefulness of this duplication
Illinois has More school districts than ANY OTHER state

Taxpayers are being buckled and domed to death by those we have put into positions to safeguard the system and the taxpayers’ money.
The money should be going towards our kids and their education and teachers’ resources, not towards duplicating services and wasting money.

Analyses show that there are counter-intuitive tax hikes if grade school districts were merged with high school districts.
For those of us living in dual school districts, consolidating into unit districts will raise our taxes a lot.

I am frankly surprised at the lack of analysis by those who think there will be savings through such consolidation.

The guy who held the position before Leslie was let go because he lied about having his PhD..
The guy before him was never ever in the office or working because he was out on disability.
No one to my knowledge has plotted the process of work to determine if this separate office has enough work and value to continue to stay open.
County Government has been looking for work for them to do in order to justify their existence.
To suggest that they should remain active becasue they pull in 2 million in Grants is ridiculous.
That 2 million belongs to the taxpayer.
This office pays out 6.5 figures plus staff and entitlements.
Government employees can do all of this work..especially given the huge salaries that they draw.
Leslie has cost the taxpayer millions already.
She would have been fired from any other role.
