Mike Madigan’s Favorite Lobbyist, Mike McClain, Wrote Incriminating 2012 Email

A 2012 email to Governor Pat Quinn from former State Rep. and retired lobbyist Mike McClain, Mike Madigan’s favorite, has been uncovered by WBEZ-FM reporters Tony Arnold and Dave McKenney.

It is destined to result in couple of investigations.

The “Gary” is former State Rep. Gary Hannig, who headed Governor Pat Quinn’s legislative affiars office.

McClain was appointed after his father died in the early 1970’s. This was during the first term of Mike Madigan.

After McClain was defeated in 1980, he turned to lobbying.

WBEZ was the station to reveal that McClain had been the subject of an FBI raid.

Commonweath Edison, one of the firms for whom he lobbying is now in the middle of a major corruption investigation.

The email mentions the cover-up of a rape by an Illinois Department of Corrections official and “Jones’ ghost employees and other items.”

WBEZ identified the employee as Forrest Ashby, a resident of Quincy, McClain’s home town.

He was on the state payroll until 2018, when he went to work for JB Pritzker’s campaign at McClain’s recommendation.

Now, he recieves $40 an hour consulting for the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board.

    Journalists and the press and media are not “the enemy of the people.”

  2. One of the reasons that it’s hard to get at Mike Madigan is that he doesn’t use a cell phone or e-mail.

    It wasn’t real bright of this guy to put all those details in an e-mail.

    Remember kiddies, anything that you post online or send in an e-mail can come back and bite you in the a** years later.
