Joe Tirio Withdraws from Electoral Board Consideration of Orville Brettman’s Challenge to Jack Franks’ Regional Office of Education Referendum

McHenry County Clerk Joe Tirio has sent the following communication announcing that he will not be chairing the McHenry County Electoral Board when it considers whether Jack Frank’s advisory referendum on the Regional Superintendent of Schools should be on the ballot.

Orville Brettman filed a complaint arguing that the referendum wording is defective.

In addition, he argues that residents outside of the region will be allowed a vote and some residents of the region in other counties will be deprived of a vote.

Tirio’s communication follows:

The email points out that he will be replaced by County Treasurer Glenda Miller.

  4. Cal, the electoral board ruled against Brettman’s objection 3-0 this afternoon.

    It looks like the referendum will remain on the ballot.
