From former Lake in the Hills Sanitary District Trustee Terry Easier:
Dear McHenry county board members:
During the last board meeting in December the board passed ordinance No. 402 that allows trustees participation in the LITH Sanitary district group insurance benefit plan.
All though the old Sanitary Act allows for this there is no record of any trustee using this benefit before.
LET’S BREAK IT DOWN BY COST OF THIS BENEFIT TO THE DISTRICT
- $500 MONTHLY NORMAL SALARY BENEFIT TO ALL TRUSTEES (TAXABLE INCOME) yearly cost $3000 per trustee.
- $1900/MONTH INSURANCE BENEFIT (NON TAXABLE) to all trustee yearly cost to district $22,800 per trustee.
TOTAL COST FOR 3 TRUSTEES FOR THE INSURANCE BENEFIT IS YEARLY $68,400/YEAR
The proposal would allow Trustees to trade their $5000 monthly benefit for the new insurance of approx $1900.
President Eric Hanson is the only trustee that has chosen this new benefit as of 1/1/2020.
Trustees meet once a month for a average time requirement 30 to 40 minutes
They are not allowed to have discussion outside a public meeting because of the open meeting act.
Being a formal trustee it was civic duty to keep cost to the district under control
This is new insurance plan is way of line and should be discouraged.
