Mike Beuhler, GOP Candidate for McHenry County Board Chairman, Holds Fundraiser

Here is the talk that Mike Beuhler gave at his Thursday night fundraiser in Woodstock:

Mike Buehler and family.

What great turnout!

Mike Buehler

I’d like to thank you all for coming tonight.

I am humbled and honored to receive the support of those who share my vision for honesty and integrity in how McHenry County is governed.

If I could take a minute to introduce my family.

As you came in, you met my wife Heidi.

We’ve been married for over 20 years… and I’ve got a thank you too honey for taking on this challenge with me.

I know it’s a lot more work at home for you. And I promise to strike a balance between work, family, and the campaign.

Your sacrifice does not go unnoticed.

Heidi is the hardest working teacher I’ve ever known, and the most loving wife and mother a man could ask for.

And These are our 3 boys, youngest to oldest, Harrison who goes to Glacier Ridge Elementary, Griffin who attends Bernotas Middle School, and Jackson who’s a junior at Crystal Lake Central High School.

They’re good boys and I am proud of each one of them.

So the first thing I want to do is make sure that you leave here tonight having a better understanding of who I am, why I am running, and how I am going to make McHenry County a better place through sincere, honest leadership.

I also want you to know that Heidi and I have lived in McHenry County for over 20 years.

And this is where we have raised our family.

As a lifelong Republican I have always supported conservative values and I have never lost sight of how each individual can make a positive difference in their community.

However,… my story is one of adversity, and not one of privilege.

I did not grow up as the son of a millionaire.

Rather, I grew up under very difficult circumstances in a family that struggled to make ends meet.

And despite the challenges I faced, my twin brother and I have been able to build a very successful business that has allowed me to provide for my family and to be able to live a good life.

By the way, I should let you know that my business is focused almost exclusively outside of McHenry County, so citizens don’t have to worry about my intentions or potential conflicts.

Through my  experience of building a successful business, I have come to realize how important it is to learn from what doesn’t go right and to rise above those challenges.

And that we can make the world a  better place, one step at a time.

It is that kind of can-do spirit in which problem solving and hard work is how great businesses and good government are built.

And that is one of the strengths that I intend to bring as your Chairman.

In addition, I want you to know that through the challenges I faced, I have developed a deep sense of compassion and a desire to give the people who need it a hand up.

That’s because I know deep down inside that’s what people want—not a handout.

I have been appalled with how the powerful political class in this state has driven us into bankruptcy, corruption, and chaos.

Allen Skillicorn

And if that’s not terrifying enough, we may be seeing the results of that very same self-serving, powermongering behavior, unraveling the fundamental decency of our county.

So, as a citizen and as a businessman, I can’t afford not to get involved.

I have the courage to stand up for what is right, and to promote open, honest government and speak for those who have no voice.

So, what will I do differently?

First, I want a County Board where every member of the board is shown the respect of the chairman, and is encouraged to speak up for their constituents and for the concerns that each of our districts face.

No county board member should ever feel intimated or threatened, as they might feel today.

For that matter, it almost seems as if the current Chairman thrives on the politics of division, in which anyone who disagrees with him, primarily, but not exclusively Republicans, are bullied with lies and misrepresentations through tens of thousands of Robo calls and political literature.

The infrastructure for corruption and self-dealing may be being built right before our eyes.

Senior citizens and veterans are being hurt.

The basic services that help our veterans, senior citizens, disabled, and mentally ill are under attack and are tearing away at the very fabric of goodness that McHenry County has always represented.

The kind of business environment, where honest people can make an honest living is being undermine every day that this Chairman is in power.

I will eliminate the patronage jobs and the sweetheart lobbyist deals, created by our chairman, which will have cost our tax payers over $1 million dollars over his 4 year term.

And by the way, those are the self-dealing corrupt activities that we know about—what about the corrupt activities we don’t know about in our County?

We all know that “power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely”.

As Americans, I believe you share my values that “government should be of the people, for the people, and by the people”.

As your chairman, I will restore respectful, open dialogue between board members and myself, so that we can find the best solutions that meet the actual needs of our county.

Not just for today, but for tomorrow as well

In the coming months the fight ahead will be no small task.

Anyone that knows me knows that when I’m presented with a challenge, I tackle it head-on in order to achieve the goal.

That’s exactly what I intend to do in this race.

Thank you so much for coming  tonight.

Your support in the days ahead will make all the difference!

  1. A man with the right attitude, experience, and respect for others.

He would bring back the dignity the position deserves.

A self made man and a gentleman.

Citizens of McHenry County would greatly benefit with this man as chairman

  2. Mike is the best man for the job!

Experienced, level headed and a unifier that our county needs.

  3. What a cute picture of his family with him!

He has a twin brother too.

  4. I’m so sick of most of the County Board’s tricks like McCann and Althoff.
