Child Porn Arrest in Cary

Possession of Child Pornography Arrest

On Thursday February 13, 2020 the Cary Police Department arrested 24-year old Shawn M. Keady of the 400 block of Redwood Drive, Cary on an active arrest warrant for three counts of Possession of Child Pornography, all Class X Felonies.

In summary, in March 2019 Cary Police Department Detectives received information from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force regarding an online social media account sharing photos believed to contain child pornography.

Between March 2019 and February 2020 Detectives conducted an investigation that involved the service of a search warrants to seize and analyze electronic devices used to store and transmit child pornography.

The FBI’s Regional Computer Forensic Laboratory conducted a search of
the seized electronic devices, which uncovered numerous photos containing child pornography.

In consultation with the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office, the Cary Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for three counts of ossession of Child Pornography, all class X Felonies.

Pursuant to Illinois Compiled Statute, a Class X Felony is punishable by a term of imprisonment of not less than 6 years and not more than 30 years.

Keady turned himself in at the Cary Police Department on February 13, 2020 and was released after posting the required 10% of the assigned bond ($100,000).
