State GOP Ridicules Two Bills Introduced by Democrats

From the Illinois Republican Party:

Democrats Propose A Couple Ridiculous Bills

Every new session brings with it a crop of wacky and downright dangerous bills proposed by Democrats.

This week we are taking a look at two bills having to do with the gas pump. This first bill, HB 4571 proposed by Rep. Lilly, “provides that no gas may be pumped at a gas station in this State unless it is pumped by a gas station attendant employed at the gas station.”

It’s almost hilarious how nonsensical this bill is and why it even exists. In a state with tremendous challenges facing us, Rep. Lilly wants to mandate that we cannot pump our own gas?

The second bill is less funny and truly bad for taxpayer’s wallets.

A bill proposed by Senator Bill Cunningham, SB 2298, would open up the ability for all municipal governments to tack on an extra 3 percent gas tax to the state and federal gas tax.

Even after Democrats led the doubling of our gas tax at the state level last year, they want even more.

Last year’s tax hike vaulted Illinois’ total gasoline taxes to the third-highest in the nation. Before the hike, Illinois’ gas taxes ranked 21st in the nation.

  1. Paul? Are you starting to see yet why I insist that elections are rigged?

  2. Where is there proof that putting gasoline in one’s own car is dangerous? How many fire incidents over time?

Illinois changed the law to allow an auto/truck/suv owner to pump their own gasoline over 40 years ago.

Looks like this proposed new law is just more of stupidity and moronic policy and proposals from the failing and flailing Democrat Party. The Party of socialists/commies who have zero competent people as evidenced by the current presidential candidates such as Bernie.

  3. Laws should not be made to protect stupid people from their own actions.

Let’s rely on the law of natural section, the fit of the fittest need only to survive.

If you are stupid enough to blow yourself up pumping gas, so be it, we’re all better off!

  4. You mean you’re not willing to pay 30 to 50 cents more per gallon so they can brag about job creation?

    What’s wrong with you guys?

  5. I don’t think the gas pumping bill will go anywhere, but the three cent optional tax for localities might.
