Lauf’s hired gun from Axiom Strategies misfires badly in closing weeks of campaign
Today (Sunday, February 23), 14th congressional district Republican Catalina Lauf has been a candidate for all of half a year, given she launched her campaign for the Republican nomination on August 23.
And while Ms. Lauf is not going to win the nomination, her campaign provided some comic relief this week when Lauf’s hired gun from Axiom Strategies tweeted the following late Wednesday night:
I have to admit, I got more than a few laughs at the accusation, or joke, that I, John Lopez, trolls anyone especially for money, and from of all people, Jim Oberweis.
It has been made very clear whom I really work for, and God through His Spirit guides my writing. It is perfect? No. But fruit has been bearing in the time I’ve been allowed to write and elevate the coverage of this important congressional race not only for McHenry County residents, but to a broader audience.
Ms. Davison and I have been following each other on Twitter for nearly six months, and one thing I’ve learned about her is she is a genuine God-fearing woman.
While she definitely has her priorities right, that does not make her infallible, as she proves here. She tweeted this within a couple of hours after the conclusion of the Democratic presidential debate, and one might excuse a nonsense tweet given all of the nonsense coming out of Las Vegas earlier in the evening.
She’s not being mean, she’s just wrong, and I know the laughs both Cal and I experienced as a result lasted through the week, especially given my very serious business I had to do on Thursday.
It’s one thing when an overzealous volunteer for one of the congressional candidates says something silly, either in comments here on the blog, or maybe in social media. It’s another for a high profile person like a Ms. Davison, a higher-up in Jeff Roe’s Axiom Strategies who’s a highly paid hired gun to fire a blank like this.
Let’s look at Lauf’s latest incarnation as this pic was released in social media last week.
Lauf is breaking out the assault-style rifle, complete with a scope. Guess the 9MM handgun wasn’t enough to inspire her 2nd amendment supporters that she had to upgrade to a rifle.
I just get flashbacks to when Michael Dukakis drove a tank around when I saw this. While one can believe Lauf is passionate about the 2nd amendment, just seems typical to what has happened to her campaign in the past six months.
When Lauf burst on the scene late last summer, she received a lot of earned media coverage from various news sources from across the country and from late August through September and into early October, she was flying high.
Yet as mid October progressed, her attention faded and her fundraising faded significantly to the point she’s not competitive in the primary. During those three months Lauf’s electoral demise was predicted on the pages of McHenry County Blog and while she showed signs of brilliance along the way, her star faded.
The Republican primary is in just over three weeks, and it’s a safe bet Lauf will not be the winner of the primary given the race is between State Senators Jim Oberweis and Sue Rezin, with Ted Gradel’s campaign cash likely playing spoiler.
Once the primary has come and gone, a post-mortem will be offered on all of the candidates.
Finally, Lauf did appear on FOX News’ Hannity hour, hosted by Dan Bongino on Friday night, and while the live-stream video was messed up, commenter “Correcting” provided the transcript, which is really all one needs to read concerning Lauf’s appearance:
BONGINO: Yes.
Catalina, congratulations on running for Congress, by the way. I did it. It’s tough to put and it takes a lot of guts.CATALINA LAUF, GOP CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE: Thank you.
BONGINO: So, you have my deep respect for that.
But I know this is an interest — this is an area of interest that’s central to your campaign, this socialism bent we’ve taken with candidates like AOC and the Squad.What are you going to do though to get the message out about how devastating these ideas are?
LAUF: Well, first of all, let’s not sugarcoat the fact that socialism is just one step away from communism. And, you know, look, I’m running in a district that President Trump won in 2016. So, it was a long time held Republicans seat here in Illinois 14, the northern part of the state here, and it was flipped by a Democrat socialist Lauren Underwood, who’s an honorary Squad member now.
She campaigned as a moderate, as a lot of these people did back in 2018, but quickly, we realized that they are socialist. And so, what they’re doing is they’re trying to infiltrate all these districts, especially long- held Republican seats. And so, it has energized, especially, but — especially by somebody like myself who works for President Trump.
You know, the “America First” agenda is so important and we need to bring it back to these long-held Republican seats, to ensure that we are fighting on the side of freedom. But it’s also more important that the GOP has new faces and new perspective now to carry that torch, to really counter-attack these far left, especially women, on the other side of the aisle.

It is genuinely hoped Ms. Lauf does continue to pursue politics and political goals in the years to come, which ever way God will guide her to do.
All seven of the candidates have added their distinctiveness into the 14th congressional district Republican primary, and while there can be only one nominee, may the best qualities of all be reflected in the one winner, whom we’ll know the identity the night of March 17.

Catalina Lauf is the only candidate in the race that has received national media attention because she is the only relevant candidate against Lauren Underwood.
The voters in IL 14 are smart and know that, and she will prevail on March 17.
She has the support of the people, not the deep pocket books of paid off politicians.

Oh come come, as the article was very clear, while 4 1/2 to 6 months ago, Catalina Lauf’s candidacy received national media attention, that had faded significantly by mid to late October, and never recovered.
The Democratic presidential candidate Lauf reminded me of was Beto O’Rourke, recalling how he kicked off his presidential campaign with a huge splash, got national media attention, and then his support faded when his candidacy showed itself to have no substance.
The same can be said for Lauf, which is why she is where she is.
Three weeks from Tuesday night, we’ll all see who’s speaking the truth.
This guy is a complete moron. He hits all the trolling points like a true commie puppet. (And so stupid that he doesn’t even realize what he did here is really to shout out the vapidness of the whole agenda.)
Eh. I predict a Lauf win.
Don’t underestimate the power of the type of energy a candidate like her brings.
We want change here and the average voter truly doesn’t want Oberweis — Sue is a democrat.
Catalina is the perfect anecdote against Lauren Underwood but you can also tell she actually cares what she’s doing and would be a good representative.
She actually listens.
Jim is doing this as an ego trip, Sue I have no clue why and Ted is very lack luster.
My money’s on Lauf!

It’s hysterical to see y’all try to attack Underwood for not listening to her constituents. She has held more “town halls” and office hours t JFK a ANY congressman and her offices are incredibly responsive.
Your views are probably not the same as hers s as she’s an adult 21st century woman living in the real world but to say she doesnt listen is just read wrong.
Surely you don’t think she held more town hall meetings that Joe Walsh.
I met Catalina. She’s pretty nice and very attractive. But she’s a media creation w/o much substance.

Rezin a firm NO! She’s a fake, a RINO and a person who fancies she’s sooooooooo witty. I met her at a Chamber of Commerce mixer. She ain’t that bright, let me tell you. And she holds a wine glass wrong AND worst of all hogs the cheese at the wine & cheese mixer. She said she was “starving” when she took nearly the half the cheese of a certain expensive Brie brand. I can let that go, (maybe she really was ‘starving’) but I draw the line on her double-dipping at the salsa table.
Catella is a really good guy. He’d make a great Congressman in 1950 or 2035, but I don’t see how he could beat the awful Underwood.
