McHenry County Judicial Candidate Mary McClellan – Probable cause finding of sexual harassment and retaliation

McHenry Co. (ECWd) – As a candidate for Judge Mary McClellan seeks voter approval, it’s a safe bet to say the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s findings will impact her campaign.

A former employee filed a complaint against the Clerk’s office in March of 2016 with allegations against her husband, Ed Gils who she employed in her office.

Specific allegations include Discrimination, Sexual Harassment (Hostile Work Environment), and Sexual Harassment (Quid Pro Quo).

According to the US EEOC investigation determination letter of the McHenry County Clerk’s office during McClellan’s reign of power, they

“..determined that the evidence obtained during the course of the investigation establishes reasonable cause to believe that Respondent discriminated against Charging Party, because of her sex, female, by subjecting her to sexual harassment and retaliating against her for engaging in protected activity, by discharging her, in violation of Title VII.”

An interesting point in the matter is how McClellan chose to deal with the unemployment matter in this case.

“County Clerk McClellan indicated that this was not accurate and that the employee is reported to have quit..”

When people quit, logic would say you protest any unemployment claims, however, not Mary McClellan.

“County Clerk McClellan asked that the County withdraw its protest to the unemployment claim.”

Why withdraw a protest to unemployment when you claim the person quit?

Or is the real truth of the matter found in the fact she knew there could be a much bigger problem if she protested the unemployment?

While we may never know the real reason she chose not to protest the unemployment, at least we now know the rest of the story.

With McClellan and her husband Ed Gill entangled in an alleged defamation case in McHenry County, it appears the determination by the EEOC is not only problematic for her pursuit of becoming a Judge, but even more problematic in her claims of defamation as the EEOC matter is bound to be an issue related to the Character of McClellan and her husband.

We encourage everyone to read the entire docket we recieved under FOIA to get a grasp as to the things that went on while McClellan was in charge of things at the McHenry County Clerk’s Office.

U.S. Employment Opportunity Commission Finds Sexual Discrimination by Former County Clerk Mary McClellan’s Employee Husband — 7 Comments

  1. I’m no fan of McClellan, and I abhor harassment in any form, but the inferential leap being made between a finding of reasonable cause and actual harassment is not one that even Superman could make.

Knowing that, I see this as nothing more than a smear campaign.

  2. Funny and sad at the same time.

Nepotism is ugly. So is McClellan’s nepotism. So is the rampant township nepotism.

  3. M – Not a smear campaign.

The truth is this woman is running her campaign on being a woman.

Honest women don’t allow their husbands to harrass other women and then try to cover it up.

Mary and the word honest do not belong in the same sentence.

  4. Typhoid Mary and her disgusting husband!

    Didn’t this victim sue?

Or am I thinking of another employee of hers that sued for assault from Typhoid Mary?

  5. Seems like the Hillbilly McClellans are a lot like the Clintons.

Typhoid Mary acts like aloof Hillary.

Sex crazed husband plays around, Mary’s ok with it, he gets caught, she plays the hurt victim.

And the laugh about it privately while they figure out how to advance her politically as well as their next bankruptcy.

  6. Township Nepotism, Ms Trumpion, is a redundancy.

Like “Revert Back” “Free Gift” “Close Proximity”

LE reports are replete with them ……….. “12 Noon” and “12 Midnight” are the most abused.

  7. Fatty, you made me laugh so hard I spilt my martini!

It was worth it because not much spilled.
