Libertarians Meeting Monday at Algonquin Colonial Cafe

That’s the word from McHenry County President Jim Young.

He writes,

“We will assemble at the Colonial Cafe in Algonquin at 6:30 for conversation, dinner, and drinks.

“At 7:30 we will have our business meeting.

“At 8:00 we will have our speakers.

  • First is Joe Monack giving an update on the primary races.
  • Then Danny Maloof will give an update on his bid for the Libertarian Party nomination for the US Senate seat.

  1. Well, independents & all new political party candidates can start circulating petitions on March 24, but best to wait, since someone who cast an established political party ballot in Republican or Democratic primary cannot sign.

  2. I wonder if Skillicorn’s candidate for Governor “Cash Jackson” will be there??

And he calls himself a Republican…

  3. In Skillicorn’s defense Rauner was a Democrat his entire life until stupid Republicans nominated him to be their candidate.

I can see why one would be upset.

Rauner did great things for Republicans.

  4. John, I am pretty sure you are wrong about people who cast a primary ballot not being able to sign a petition for a third party candidate in the general election.

I believe they can sign, they just wouldn’t be able to sign for more than one third party.

They probably wouldn’t be able to sign a petition for Willie Wilson and Danny Malouf.

Kash Jackson supposedly left Illinois, Big Tent.

  5. Correcting, OK, you may be right about voters & which general election petition they can sign, opposed to which general primary election petition was signed.

I do know if you cast a party’s ballot in the primary, you cannot run as an independent or new party candidate in the general in the same election cycle.

Flashbacks to the Democrats’ gameplaying in 2012 when they tried to run the widow of a Republican state representative against David McSweeney because he beat the Republican establishment’s choice.

And I remember which ballot cast in the primary to determine if she could run as independent.

And she had cast a nonpartisan ballot.

As far as Kash Jackson, not sure he’s left Illinois, judging by all of his pro Catalina Lauf tweets he sends ad nauseum
