IL-06/IL-14: Catalina Lauf Endorses Jeanne Ives

Jeanne Ives

From working against her for pay to endorsement, Lauf comes full circle on Ives

Yesterday morning, 14th congressional district candidate Catalina Lauf sent out the following tweet concerning Tuesday’s primary:

While backing 15th district candidate Mary Miller and 17th district candidate Esther King, Lauf for the first time, openly backed Jeanne Ives in the neighboring 6th congressional district to her over 61,000 Twitter followers.

Lauf has come full circle from where she worked two years ago, working for then Governor Bruce Rauner’s reelection campaign, including the nearly two months during the Republican gubernatorial primary against then State Representative Jeanne Ives.

Just yesterday, Lauf for the first time was on the receiving end of an attack mailer from the Ted Gradel aligned PAC New Prosperity Foundation, which included this hit against Lauf:

All of the bulletpoint hits under “Previous Roles” were reference to her nearly 10 months working for Rauner’s reelection campaign, from late January all the way to mid November in 2018, which included working against Ives’ primary campaign.

While Lauf has not explained how a strong, always Trumper like herself could work for the campaign of the biggest never Trumper governor’s reelection for nearly 10 months prior to working for the Department of Commerce in the Trump Administration, some might say Lauf’s support for Ives in 2020 is better late than never.

IL-06/IL-14: Catalina Lauf Endorses Jeanne Ives — 16 Comments

  1. Lauf’s endorsement means about as much as a spoiled avocado, if that!

  2. The gals reminding us that if their were no men, the world would experience 500 years of peace with lot’s of talking, book clubs and lot’s of talking.

  3. She is just trying to ride Ives coattails.

Catalina IS NOT READY FOR THIS JOB.

START AT A LOWER LEVEL AND WORK UP.

    Congress would eat her alive.

  4. D J, the National Journal rated your district, TX-24 as #12 of districts most likely to flip.

For comparison IL-14 just missed the cut of the top 20.

Given the three candidates left after primary, are all women, maybe your district will lead way?

  5. LMAO Someone who has never been elected to anything gets to endorse someone who has and that’s news?

Lauf worked and got paid to beat Ives in the primary exactly two years ago and now she has the audacity to think she has the standing to endorse?

Jeanne Ives remembers Lauf worked for Rauner.

What a farce this “endorsement” is.

    Like Ives needs it.

  6. Catalina has over 60k followers on Twitter.

A tweet like that means much more than let’s just say an endorsement letter from a bunch of IL no-namers about Sue.

You all are so out of touch!

This is why Catalina is going to win.

Sue and Jim are just relying on their political connections thinking this is a shoe in, yet probably haven’t knocked a single door, or have actually earned the support of the voter.

Ted thinks his money can do it yet has the personality of dry wall.

Marter Catella and Evans are a wasted voted.

Actually, I would have voted for Marter had Catalina not come in.

    (Sorry Jim).

Catalina is a better-looking less Joe-Walshy version of him who can actually have a voice once she gets there.

We are in a populist revolution.

The average voter is going to gravitate towards Catalina based on her looks, her charisma and ability to connect.

    Smart girl too!

I trust a 26 year old with the experience that she has more than I would a Springfield politician or Notre Dame Football kicker!

    It’s just reality!

  7. Well on 2d thought I can’t vote for Ives, but I would if I lived in her Dist.

  8. She should have the very least study what was coming up for a vote.

When asked about the ERA vote, she did not know what it was, among other issues she was BLANK.

    MISSING THE MARK.

    Congress will eat her alive.

  9. She’ll eat Congress Alive.

That’s what we need in our Representatives.

  10. Lauf has no chance.

Last ditch effort and hope she gets some reciprocation from Ives who’s foaming at the mouth rabid far right supporters will probably back Marter instead.

Lauf worked for Rauner because it was a job, you’re never going to agree with your boss 100% of the time on anything especially if they’re a politician.

Also rumor is she got fired from the Rauner campaign this would probably help her but she’s trying to inflate her resume by calling herself a “senior staff member” when reality is she was very junior and couldn’t even handle that.

  11. This is laughable from Underwood’s Understudy, the Republican version of AOC. The three of them came onto the political scene from nowhere, playing identity politics, exaggerated employment,
or barely employed at all. Lauf joined the Rauner team after he came out for the big abortion bill HB40 and after he came out for turning Illinois into a sanctuary state (Trust Act). Now she is trying to scrub her resume of Rauner as John Lopez effectively discerned (see 3 minute mark of Berkowitz interview posted elsewhere on this blog).
Trying to use the good names of Ives, King and Miller to prop up her bad name is despicable. I guarantee you will not see them endorsing her in the primary.

  12. FLamont, the “rumor” you heard sounds like a bunch of crap.

Lauf was getting salary payments from Rauner all the way through the general election. She had a salary payment on October 31 and then November 16th, 2018, and mileage reimbursements on November 2 and December 21, 2018. Those are the most recent payments from Rauner, but she worked for him in the primary too.

I heard a rumor that she was demoted to working with the Lt Governor, but no heroic insubordination of Rauner that got her fired like you’re implying.

She would have brought that up if it happened since McHenry, Kane, Kendall, DuPage, and Will counties all voted for Ives.

  13. Correcting… settle down, i heard it from a credible source/someone who would know.

Maybe what they were referring to was the demotion.

Regardless I don’t think anyone would bring up being fired from a job when theyre looking for a promotion.

  14. @Catalina has over 60k followers on Twitter.

She must have rubbed many arms for the followers.

    I witnessed her tactics.
